Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Weekend Warrior Summary: Riders should note that only Woodbury Mtn Road is a public road. All other trails are private and closed to the public. Gates and fences mean the trail is closed and riders should not "easily go around" the gates. Responsible riders will not trespass on private property and further aggravate private property owners and cause additional trail closings. Recommended Route: Stay on Woodbury Mtn Road. All side trails are closed to the public, i.e., no trespassing! Other recommended trails in the same area: None

, from burlington Summary: The description in Carter's book is only fair. Their are probably new roads that have been put in for the logging activities up there, as well as roads that are becoming overgrown, and underused since her writing. Nothing is signed, make sure you have a cyclometer. The spur road leading to Eagle Ledge Rd. has been gated (easy to get around). From here, there are MANY large mud and water holes (I rode this 7-5-3). Some of the mud holes I rode through, others I had to walk as they were either too long or too deep. I do not see these water holes drying up any time soon. Not sure I would call this advanced riding, but certainly not one for beginners, either. Bring lots of bug dope! If I were to do this ride agian, I'd do it as a shuttle. Start at Curtis Pond. Head up Woodbury Mtn. Rd., which turns into Slayton Pond Rd., which tuns into W. Woodbury Rd. (I do not understand Vermont roads sometimes). End at the corner of W. Woodbury and Brown Hill Rd., or continue to the highway via Buffalo Mtn. Rd. or Wright Farm Rd. This is all from the Vermont Gazetteer. On a scale from 1-5, in terms of technical difficulty, I'd give it a 3-3+. Recommended Route: As described in Kate Carter's book, Vermont Mountain Bike: A Guide to the Classic Trails.

Ridden Trail: Once a year

, from essex vermont Summary: Parking at the bootom of the hill. Ride up the hill. Once you get past all the road grading for the new development, the road turns to doubletrack trail. Used to be most of the road was just doubletrack trail, but progress must move on and create more suburbs! Anyway, the doubletack is nice. Would get 4.5 starts if the road grading wasn't done. Recommended Route: Up Woodbury mountain road and then keep going, exploring the trails to left and right
