This trail connects the Mt. Equinox/Water Tower trails with the Beartown Road (jeep)to Sandgate, and the Mother Myrick Mt. trails, and Nichols Hill Road trails in Dorset. Possible to do 2-3+ hour rides, but you may have to ride back on pavement. Mostly narrow jeep roads, some single track. 98% rideable, with some very steep short technical sections. Lots of leg burner climbs and fast descents. Trails have changed over the years due to housing development and some are overgrown, so some exploring will be necesarry. If lost, just head downhill, should hit pavement somewhere. Remember, a lot of this is private land, but I have never had any problems.
Powderhorn Road, off west Road. Ride to top of pavement, take a right on a dirt road (don't remember name). Follow fire road with switch backs up to pond. Find trail at right when looking uphill. Trail is well travelled, follow north to Beartown Road. All on private land, so be quiet, ride gently and keep a low profile, don't spoil it for others, and don't piss of the land owners.
Summary: Just wanted to give this trail a review so it gets some traffic. I don't live here anymore - it would be nice if some locals got organized to get these trails more established, or we risk loosing them for riding if something bad happens. I know a lot of people use these because I always see tracks.
Recommended Route: See above. Or, park at the sign that says "Trail" at the top of McNamara Road and Three Maple Drive.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Equinox, Beartown Notch.
