Colchester High School

Area directly behind HS is mostly flat dirt with single trac circuits. Continue to explore to find sand pits, used by motorized vehicles (!). There are a few technical sections. Climbs are short and offer some fun & fast downhill shots. Beware of other riders since these trails can attract a number of folks on foot as well as on bikes.

Ridden Trail:
Once a year

Reviewed by: Jeff , from Winooski, VT

Summary:
This is a network of trails I used to ride several years ago when I first started riding. At that time, I would have recommended this area, as it was pretty fun. However, over the last 2 years, there has been a lot of clear-cutting in the wooded areas behind the High School. This has really taken the enjoyment out of riding these trails. I guess it could still be fun to just bomb around on for a short while. Most of the trail network is ATV trail, and thus, mostly double-trak. However, there are some side trails that are more singletrack. There is also a sandpit area that is popular with our motorized friends. I personally hate the sand...so I don't usually go there, but maybe it's more your kind of thing.
Like I said though...this area used to be much better than it is now. Too bad, really.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Hmm...well, you could always make a 20 minute drive over to Williston, and stop by the Catamount Family Center. I used to ride there too...nice place. Something for most every ability. Slight fee to ride...used to be $6 for the day. Don't know what it is now.

Every few months

Reviewed by: Walt , from Vermont

Summary:
This is some nice beginner single track, though if you go down the hill toward the swamp, you can get a bit of a challange. There are several intertwined trails, so it is possible to get mixed up. However, the trails generally go west from the high school, so the return is east.

Recommended Route:
Right of the track field.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Not much else in Colchester..
