Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Weekend Warrior Summary: I've only ridden this trail once, back in February 2002 (during the Salt Lake Olympics). We were pretty much the only ones on the trail that day (I think we saw two other people). What an awesome ride! I rode it with a hardtail, so I wasn't able to enjoy all of the drops, but still a blast to ride! I will finally return in April after a 5 year layoff, now equipped with a full suspension bike to really be able to enjoy the trail! Other recommended trails in the same area: Slickrock, of course! Monitor and Merrimac is a pretty good ride too! (especially for beginners or the less extreme)

Cross Country Rider Summary: The Amassa Back section is awesome but DO NOT descend on the Jackson Hole spur. It is almost completely unridable with considerable erosion damage. Go back the way you came and you will have a ball. We climbed all the way to the overlook and got no pay back becasue we took the Jackson Hole. It was like carrying your bike on your back down a narrow, steep stairwell in a skyscraper. Also beware the "goathead thorns" in and near the parking lot. We all got flats and one guy had so many he just bought new tires. Recommended Route: Out and back on Amassa.....stay clear of the Jackson Hole downhill spur trail! Other recommended trails in the same area: Sovereign Sgltrk, Porcupine Rim,

Racer Summary: A nice technical climb followed by some great views. There are some pretty challenging climb sections that are almost uncleanable when wet/snowy. The views of Jackson's hole/Butte are amazing from the top of the climb. It's mostly service road to the top of the Mesa, which is cool and all... butt Recommended Route: Some singletrack is needed.
Start from town and ride out the aforemationed road. it's about 6 miles to the parking lot. Then it's about 1.75 miles up to the actual trail head. Descend the rock stairs and peel right around some singletrack to the creek cross the creek and go up for about 3 mi. Once you pass a pipe running over the trail look to bear right (towards the rim). Look for signs for Jacksons Trail. It is some sweet singletrack that snakes it's way down the wall of the mesa. It's pretty technical with a bunch of drops and two very tight switchbacks. Ride that out, cross the creek and climb a bit back to the main road. about a 6.5 mi ride total. Other recommended trails in the same area: It's Moab, everything is good.

Weekend Warrior Summary: One of the best rides I'v done (Utah or other wise). Yeah the trail has changed for the worse. It is still fun. 4 wheel traffic is a bummer so stay away on the weekend. Check out some of the pictures of the ride in the photo area. Also Bartlett Wash pictures. This one works good for me. I can work the hard spots while waiting or my wife to catch up. Recommended Route: out and back Other recommended trails in the same area: the norm. Porcupine, Bartlett etc. not to thrilled with poison Spider (way to many jeeps).

Downhiller Summary: I rode this trail april 3 of 2005, it wasnt to badly messed up that i noticed as some reviews seem to say.
moderetly intense climbing, lots of technical stuff, drops on the way down. You have to look around for jumps and gaps here and there.
Great veiw at the top, and nice veiws coming up aswell. You can either ride this as an out-and back, or ride the single track back around to a campground, I havent gone all the way on the single track.
Nice wide road, not too hard to watch out for people coming up, but keep your eyes open. Recommended Route: Up and back, or the single track to make it a loop. Other recommended trails in the same area: Slickrock bike trail of course, moab rim trail, porkypine ridge, poison spider trail
