Mud Springs
1 reviews
 5 of 5

Generally Mud Springs is ridden as a downhill with a shuttle. Ridden this way, it is an awesome high-speed very technical romp. It could be used to climb up to Ridge 157 or ridden as an out & back, but as a climb, it is steep and technical (probably a death march, but I've only ridden it down).

Trail Directions
Mud Springs is one of several top notch trails in American Fork Canyon. It can only be reached from other trails. The most popular access is from Ridge 157; where it forks off 2-3 miles from the Summit of the Alpine Loop. Usually this is done with a shuttle at or near Tibble Fork Reservoir. If you wish to ride Mud Springs as a climb or out and back, you'll start at the inlet end of Tibblefork Reservoir on Mill Canyon Trail. Both ends of the trail (as well as an intersection with Tibblefork Trail are well marked).

Summary:
Mud Springs is an awesome downhill if ridden from Ridge 157 or a BRUTAL uphill if ridden from Mill Canyon.

If you've been riding Ridge 157 out to Tibble Fork, try Mud Springs, its awesome in its own right and makes for nice variety from Tibble Fork.

By the way, there is a little ridden spur off of Mud Springs that climbs about 3/4 mile to a killer overlook of ALL of American Fork Canyon (valley to summit). Look for a hard left at the top of the climb (just before the trail turns dowhill).

The climb is mild except for three really technical rock gardens, but it makes for an even longer downhill ride on Mud Springs.

Recommended Route:
Ride Ridge 157 hang a left at the wooden MUD SPRINGS TRAIL sign, climb a while and then BOMB down!!!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Ridge 157, Tibble Fork, Deer Creek South Fork, Pine Hollow
