Loop with fire road climb and fast single track descent. Ride the fire road until you reach the large campsite near the top. Take the bridge over the creek and then take the fork to the right and then the fork to the left after a short climb. you'll cross a small footbridge and then hit the singletrack. the trail forks again with the left going down and straight ahead going up. Go straight. It rollercoaster-climbs for another hundred yards or so and then its all downhill. lots of twisties and mini-berms at first. A meadow crossing, some tight turns amd a rocky descent. Its not steep and there are no drops or anything, just fast and fun. You'll come out onto the fire road you came up. Just cross over and keep right. Another fast meadow crossing with a man made trail through the woods at the end (or take the fire road.) Cut back to the single track across a bridge (air it out) and then its fast and twisty the rest of the way. This is a fun short ride for after work and whatnot. Some hikers and equestrians but never crowded. Just yield trail when you have to.

Trail Directions
Take Provo canyon to the South Fork, Vivian Park exit. Drive up past Vivian Park and past the house on the left with the pond. There should be a sign on the left for National Forest Access (Its legal). Take that right and drive up to the parking lot. Take the fire road up, its a good training climb.

Summary:
I ride 3-4 times a week and Southfork is one of my favorites. All you pansies complaning about the uphill obviously never ride! This trial is an easy gradual climb till you get about 1/2 mile past the camp. Don't turn and go back down at Big Springs unless you are looking for a quick ride. Continue up torwards cascade saddle for another mile or so. There are a few technical climbs and coming down is fun. This provides a fast downhill. There are lot of Novice riders on this trail...remember to yeild!

Recommended Route:
Ride up the trial and yield! Watch for hiking zoobies.

Summary:
This is one of my favorite trails in this area. However, I feel that if we could all agree to ride UP the road and DOWN the trail, there would be fewer stops on the downhill stretch--making for a much more enjoyable ride. If you are looking for a better work out, (read: you want to ride up the trail because it is more of a challenge) you could always ride the loop 2 or 3 times.

Recommended Route:
Ride up the road, and down the trail. On the downhill just after Big Springs, take the right turn; it is a better ride downhill.

Summary:
This trailis great, a real gem, close, fast and a climb that'll burn the lungs.
Most people turn back when it gets really steep after the upper two bridges/boardwalk (past the scout camp through the trees on the right), I say keep on going! Stay on the trail, don't bum out and do the fireroad. The payoff is a much better workout and some pretty sweet views of the back side of the Cascade Range. You roll along in granny gear most all the uphill, there is moderate traffic, and some great opportunities to exercise good trail ettiquite--just remember to yield on the downhill to everyone coming uphill o the way back.
The back bowl that opens up after the long and increasingly technical uphill is worth it, as are the jumps off the downhill sides of the bridges. The meadow is a burner too--scream douwn it and don't burn out the corner back into the trees. Ride with some Soul and enjoy!

Summary:
This trail is fun for a quickie. It only takes 45 min or less if you go to the springs, plus the down hill (although not technical) is fast and pretty fun. I give it a 4 because it's not epic but it will contain your addiction until you have time for something awsome, plus it's really close to town.

Recommended Route:
Go straight up the single track, it makes the climb alot more fun.

Summary:
I have been up the trails a couple of times hoping to find the pristine trail people rant and rave about. All I have found is myself climbing endlessly up and up and up singletrack that is pretty well maintained. I have found the girls camp, without seeing much, even some trail markers and signs pointing to the pass but I always become discouraged with pushing and pulling and climbing up so long. The down hill only takes about five minutes and it is over, don't let others decieve you if you like to climb do it if you like down hill find another trail.

take any trail that seems suitable
