Pole Canyon Rim

Tech 3+ - 4 out of 5, good workout up the mesa, then fantastic views up on top. Views comparable, if not better, than Porcupine Rim. The downhill is fast and moderately technical.

Trail Directions
Take UT 128 northeast from Moab approx 18 miles, take a right at the Dewey Bridge. The bridge area is the trailhead. Cross the cattleguard and head up the gravel road for just over a mile. Then turn right onto the 4x4 trail and head up the mesa. Total length is 12 mi, climb for 4 miles, 2 miles on top of the mesa, then back the way you came. Bring a map, there are a lot of unmarked turns, not even cairns to help.

Summary:
This trail is a great half day ride in the Moab area. It's also a very well kept secret. Never seen anybody else there. I even talked to locals at the trailhead, who had no idea the trail even existed. It's nice and ledgy for a good workout on the way up, and some seriously SWEET rock 'n' roll on the way down. But nothing's unrideable. Even busted my chain and still wound up at the trailhead only a couple minutes behind my buds. The views are phenomenal. You're not as high up as on Porcupine Rim, but the cliffs are way steeper, so you get to really take it all in. Plus you can get some great shots of the Colorado River winding through the valley, 2000 feet below. A must ride if you have time.

Recommended Route:
It's out and back. Make sure to take in all the views up on top. They're worth it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Porcupine, Slickrock, Flat Pass, Hidden Canyon, Bartlett Wash, Confluence Overlook
