Fun double- and singletrack loop with cherry stem. A few technical sections may be hazardous for some riders.
To reach the trailhead from downtown St. George: ride uphill on Diagonal St. to the paved bike path along the east side of Bluff St. (Utah Hwy. 18). Proceed north (uphill). At Snow Mtn. Pkwy., turn left to cross the highway and go west down the hill on another bike path. At the bottom, you'll cross over yet another paved bike route, and shortly afterward you'll see a green electrical utility box. Some 30 feet before that box, turn right onto a doubletrack. That's the trailhead. Ride about a quarter-mile to a fence. If you're on the right trail, you'll find an entrance gap through it.
Summary: This is my after/before work ride as it is very close to my house. Fun short trail (about 2 miles). It has a little bit of everything, singletrack, slickrock, some rocky ledges and obstacles. There are a ton of trails in there but the one I ride consistantly would be called the "turtle wall" trail. It has a nice steady climb up some slick rock and a fun downhill with some obstacles.
Recommended Route: They don't allow parking in the paradise canyon development so I would suggest going to a trail head in the subdivision to the west. From StGeorge blvd head west to bluff st and turn right, continue on bluff until you reach snow canyon pkwy and turn left, continue on snow canyon pkwy until you come to the intersection of dixie downs dr and turn right, this roads meanders up the hill until it T's into Cascade canyon rd, turn right and drive down until you see a wood fence with a step over gate. Park along the road (it's a public rd so no one can say sh_t). From there take the trail and keep right at the first fork, it's pretty well marked from there. see utahmountainbiking.com for more info.

Summary: This is a trail system with trails varring in quality and difficulty. The easiest is the Turtle Wall trail. The other two are a little harder technically and physically, but are a little better. The worst way to ride this trail system is to start at the Chuckawalla Wall trail head and ride on the fire roads until you get back to the other single tracks
Recommended Route: Start at the paridise canyon trail head, which is located off the Snow Canyon Pkwy in the community of Paridise Canyon. there's no trail head parking but the trail starts where the creek is. My favorite is the middle one, but all three are worth doing, and go until the trail gets to sandy to ride
Other recommended trails in the same area: Owens loop, city creek, and pioneer park for similar but not as popular trails

Summary: I didn't find this ride in my guidebook, but a local mountain biker alerted me to it. To reach the trailhead from downtown St. George, I used the directions described above. I then followed the trail as it meandered left up a valley toward an outcropping of red-rock bluffs. I ascended the bluffs on slickrock (at this point the trail had narrowed to singletrack), and wound around them until I reached a cairn of stones atop an escarpment that looks down (and west) onto Snow Mtn. Pkwy. I tried going north (uphill) from the cairn but soon gave up because of time constraints. Instead I went south from the cairn and the trail dropped (with a few technical sections; be careful) back into the valley over a combination of dirt and slickrock. It reunited with the original trail about a half-mile from the entrance gate; at that point, I went right (south) to return to the trailhead. There may be much more to this trail or system of trails than I discovered. But daylight was fading and I was running out of time, so the section of trail I'm describing covers only about 2-3 miles. If there's more, I hope local riders will add to, and/or correct, this description. This trail may also be known as the Turtle Trail, but I'm not sure. It's a fun trail overall, and if there's more to it and it's of similar character, I'd probably give it 5 stars. I give it 4 only because the section I explored was so short. Be careful of the heat as well as the technical challenges. Bring more water than you think you will need, and ride during a cooler time of day.
Recommended Route: As described above.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Green Valley (a blast); Thunder Mtn. (outstanding); J.E.M. trail (nice).
