Cross Country Rider Summary: Vigorous climb. Several water bars, a couple exposed rocky areas to challenge you if the vert isn't enough. No stream crossings. Nice meadows. I've seen many moose from this trail. The downhill is excellent, especially when flying off the water bars! Recommended Route: Go to Desolation Lk (right at the fork). It's more fun and beautiful. Better yet, do the Wasatch Crest finishing at Mill D (Big Cottonwood), shuttling with your buddies. Other recommended trails in the same area: Jeremy Ranch (East continuation of Mormon Pioneer, E of Big Mountain pass). High Alpine Loop (Park City, Spiro, finishing at John's Trail)

Racer Summary: Hello Kids! I hope you all are being good this year and you better be because I am watching you. Santa is having a lot of fun on his summer sled during the off season. My sled has four wheels and shocks on them. The reindeer wants to stay in shape for the winter. We went on the trail and it was a lot of fun, I really thought the trail was pretty technical and had a few steep hills. We were having a lot of fun until Blixon fell and bruised his side and sprained his hoof. He's o.k. now. Then we flew off and Rudolf started complaining because he wanted to go more. Well, we had fun anyway. Other recommended trails in the same area: Whistler, Canada. Switzerland, Norway, New Zealand, China, Mount Snow, California. Australia, and Kenya. All the trails there were a lot of fun!

Ridden Trail: Once a year

, from salt lake Summary: This is a tough ride and I recommend it for intermediate to advanced riders. Since I am just getting back into the sport the Mill D really takes the wind from me. After riding up, it is really nice to coast down the entire 8-9 mile paved road of Mill Creek (distance based on what Millcreek guard told me). Mill D is murder for the beginner so if you bring somebody new expect whining about 3/4 of the way up (unless they are hardcore). When I got to the top of the trail at Dog Lake I was talking to a lady who had come up the Millcreek side. She said that she called the Mill D trail the "Walking my bike uphill" trail. It is steep, but your sense of accomplishment will be rich. Recommended Route: For my adventure I choose to park a car with a rack at the bottom of Mill creek canyon. You can park below the toll booth if you are cheap, but if you ride there often, buy a season pass. After parking the car drive a second car to Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Mill D trailhead and you immediatly begin riding uphill. There are a few steep parts where the spring runoff has etched dips into the trail, and one rocky part where people have eroded the trail and in doing so have littered a tricky part with jagged and loose rocks. (OK I might be a pansy). My girlfriend-riding partner dislikes speed, and therefore is terrified of the Mill D descent. This is why I parked the car at the bottom of Mill Creek Canyon. After we reach Dog Lake, we take Big Water or Little Water down to the top of the road at Mill Creek and coast to the car. For an added treat, instead of taking the paved road down Millcreek, take the Mill Creek Pipeline. There will be little pedaling required, but the ride is bumpy, and full of challinging hills. Most of the pipeline is downhill, but there are hilly parts that add spice to the ride. BEWARE OF METAL STUFF STICKING OUT OF THE GROUND! There is rebar on some parts that are a true threat to your tires. I don't know why they are there, but it is there please keep an eye on this trail. After a once through you will know where to look out. Other recommended trails in the same area: Desolation, Millcreek Pipeline, Big and Little Water trails.

, from springville Summary: A steep climb right from the parking lot will get the heart beating and legs burning. 1.8 miles from the trail head the trail splits. The trail to the left goes to dog lake. Hang a right and grind up a steep incline. The trail levels off after a hundred yards or so. Continue on to Desolation Lake, which is 3.7 miles from the trail head. If you are feeling strong you can countinue to the Crest trail for some prime single track. Otherwise turn around and enjoy some well earned downhill. This trail gets very crowded at times so take it easy on the corners to avoid taking out an unsuspecting hiker. You will be grinning from ear to ear when you reach the parking lot. Give your riding buddy a smak on the butt and call it a day. Recommended Route: From the trail head at big cottonwood canyon ride to the desolation lake/dog trail junctions. Take a right for desolation lake.

, from Dorchester,Ma. Summary: This was my 1st ride in the Wasatch area and 1 of my favorites. I was fortunate enough to have a local guy show me this trail and it was a great privilage to ride with him.The ride starts right away with climbing and soon climbs into beautiful meadows and is very scenic the whole way. I would say it is 100% rideable but there is a couple of real steep pitches. With a little luck and strength you could do it Recommended Route: I would say out and back, but instead I'll say up and down. Other recommended trails in the same area: Wasatch Crest and Pipeline
