Summary:
It is a good trail to go on during the fall because not much horse crap and the fall leaves are beautiful. You'll be able to cruise over the fall leaves all over on the ground which is pretty fun. It is fun and technical. A good trail to go on for a scenic ride and with friends.

Recommended Route:
Do the trail clockwise once you get half way and you're back to the highway again, keep going south to the next dirtroad on the right after 1/4 mile, turn there and get back on the other singletrack trail that goes back to campgrounds and Loafer Trailhead. Should take about 1.5-2.5 hours.

Summary:
It's a fun trail, and yes, depending on the time of year, you do have to dodge a lot of poop. It seems to be best toward the end of fall, when the mountains start to get cold and the leaves start hitting the ground. Springtime is usually too muddy and there are too many horses and cattle leaving their mark in the summer. There are a couple of mild climbs and some really fun downhill singletrack. If you're looking for big air, don't bother, as you'll be disappointed. There are some great views, and the trail is rideable by pretty much anyone. I'd give it about a 3.5.

Recommended Route:
Leave a car at the bottom of Bennie Creek and park at the turnoff for the Blackhawk campground. Just stick to the trail 'most travelled'.

Summary:
If you want the honest truth Payson Canyon doesn't really have much to offer in the way of thrilling bike rides. Its all pretty mild and long. And you know I wouldn't have minded it so bad if it wasn't for all the horse crap. Yes that's right. There is horse crap EVERYWHERE! This is a Payson hillbillie hotspot. If your idea of a good technichal ride is hopping, dodging, or riding through many piles of steamy equestrian deposits than these trails are made for you.

I don't really recommend any of the trails in Payson Canyon.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
None! Go to American Fork canyon its 40 miles north but WELL worth the drive. (unless you happen to like horse crap).

Summary:
The first 3/4 of a mile are up hill, but it's worth the climb because the rest of the trail is all down hill. This trail is hard core. By far the most dificult in Payson Canyon. There are other trails that require two vehicles (all down hill) and are challenging. Not many people know about these trails. There are tons of trees. It's butifull. Tear it up.

Recommended Route:
The Freeway exit number is 254. The rest of the directions are on the money.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There are other trails that are longer than the Loafer Mtn. trail and almost as challenging. One starts at the top of Payson Canyon and ends at the Bennie Creek trail head. (the same place Loafer trail ends) You will need a map if your not familiar with the area. Some of the trails don't show up on maps any more because the state quit maintaining them. Go figure, there still open to the public. THERE NOT ILLEGAL TRAILS!
