Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a FUN trail. We took the left turn that goes past Hendrickson lake. This was by far the most enjoyable section of the trail. After passing the lake you will drop down a section of trail that has to be the steepest 1/2 mile of sweetness that I have ever ridden. Get your butt way behind the seat and hold on. This section alone makes this trail worth while. Don't get me wrong though - the other stuff is fun too. Recommended Route: Don't miss Hendrickson lake Other recommended trails in the same area: Blow Hard

Cross Country Rider Summary: Very fun trail. There's some pretty hard stuff to start off, but after that it gets really fun. It was my first real ride, so I had to walk the first part of the trail, but I got the hang of it really quickly. There are a lot of fast rolling sections, along with the nice stay-behind-your-seat descents. The trail ends on a gravel road. Most people get hurt bombing down this road. It's really fun with banks and plenty of jumps, but the gravel can get sketchy at high speed.

, from South Florida Summary: Was on a fully supported tour. This was my favorite trail that starts on or around Brian Head peak. From the parking lot there is a short climb up to the trail head sign. From there its all down baby! I don't know what those reviewers below are talking about, below. This is a really nice trail. It has its rough spots and erroded spots. What trails don't?
Anyway, I wouldn't call this trail extreme, infact it wasn't that technical. It was mostly flowing single track and beautiful lush scenery. There was this section that has a little bridge crossing a creek. After that the trail took on a more technical nature and offered some excellent rock drops. Then it ends by steeply decending onto a fire road. We were given the green light to bomb the fire road down to 143 then on to Parowan, where the support vehicle was waiting on the other side of Interstate 15. On the way down the fire road we could feel the temp increasing fast.
This trail was a favorite in this area because of its diversity, excitement, scenery, and shade. If you ride Brian Head, save this gem for last! Do Blow Hard after you've been acclimated to the altitude. You'll enjoy it more. Recommended Route: Follow the signs down trail, fire road and paved road! Other recommended trails in the same area: Bunker Creek (L & R Forks - both good), Blow Hard (Technical - good), Virgin River Rim Trail (Climbing & Rolling)

, from Las Vegas, NV Summary: I have been riding this trail for 10 years. I am sad to say that the trail is in horrible shape. The Dixie National Forest Park Service and the bike shop personnel should be ashamed of themelves. They are quick to brag how wonderful Brian Head is but are not doing anything to keep the trails open. I even mentioned it to several bike shops and got the impression they could care less. Dark Hollow is a technical downhill not recommended for the advanced rider. The intial drop off is very challenging and can be painful. The ride is great except for the mess left by the lumber industry. Throughout the middle part of the ride the trail is covered with logs that are of course for the most part unrideable. After this section the trail is clear but still steep, technical and exciting. The singletrack is fairly short and then ends on a fire road. This section is okay as far as dirt roads go. Recommended Route: Climb to the top of the peak, follow the signs. Other recommended trails in the same area: Bunker Creek

, from CANYON COUNTRY , CA Summary: THIS IS THE BEST TRAIL FOR YOUR BUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOTS OF ROCK, ROOTS, AND RUTTS. 99% DOWNHILL FROM THE SIGN ON DOWN. WHEN YOU GET ABOUT 1/2 WAY DOWN THERES A FORK THAT GOES TO HENDRICKSON LAKE. IF YOU GO THAT WAY IT WILL TIE BACK INTO THE FIRE ROAD THAT DARK HOLLOW DROPS OFF ON TO. THIS IS BY FAR MORE TECH. THEN THE OTHER ROUTE. BUT THEN YOU MISS A NICE LITTLE WOODEN BRIDGE GOING OVER A STREAM. A GOOD PLACE TO STOP FOR A SNACK OR TWO.TAKE YOUR PICK, THERE BOTH AWESOME!!!!!!!! THE FINAL LEG IS A FIRE ROAD THAT BOTH ROUTES WILL TAKE YOU TO. THIS IS A GOOD WARM DOWN WHERE YOU CAN LET YOUR BRAKES REST AND SEE JUST HOW FAST YOU'LL LET YOUR MOUNTAIN BIKE GO. ALL AND ALL, ANY ADVANCED RIDER SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLEAN IT. NOT TO DEMANDING BUT LOTS OF FUN! BLOWHARD IS ALSO A LOT OF FUN , BUT DARK HOLLOW IS THE CRONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NUF SAID. Recommended Route: BRIANHEAD PEAK- 11,500 FT. DOWN TO VERMILLION CASTLE- 4,500 FT.
