Park right off the highway and head down the sandy road after a couple miles you can take a right and do an out and back to check out an arch, continue on, there is an awesome spot to check out - left spur - hike a bike out and back to more arches and stuff.. Continue on to great rocky downhills, technical secions.. Eventually you end up on the road and bike back to moab, hopefully
getting a ride back to the parkin area.. I think its about 25-30 miles (one way).
Other recommended trails in the same area: lots :-)

Ridden Trail: Every few months
Reviewed by: Scott

Summary: This is the trail they use for the 24 Hours of Moab every October. It was one of the best courses I've ever done. the total was about 21km and took about 1 1/2 hours racing it. 3 hours would probably be the best estimate for just riding it for fun. There are some incredibly technical sections that had a couple teams of EMTs watching them round the clock, but a few insane guys were able to ride it. The last long climb is 3-4 km, but it's do-able. A few sandy sections, but well worth it
Recommended Route: Wait until Mid-october and ride it as the race course of the 24 hours of Moab

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Summary: A friend who races expert class and I did this without a shuttle, and I paced myself for about five miles less than I ended up riding. Only one other ride has ever wiped me out as much as this one. I had a ton of fun until we were coming back out and all the sand pretty much tapped my energy reserves. It took us about seven hours, and I was never happier that there was a hot tub back at the motel waiting for us. Although I'm a hard core hiker and solid backpacker, my technical skills on a mountain bike are suspect. This was all of my tenth real mountain bike ride, and I hadn't gone clipless yet either. On the plus side, watching and trying to immitate Jim's technique on the more technical sections and in the sand did more for my mountain biking skills than all of my previous rides combined. I'd love to do it again, now that I know what I'm getting into. I'll ditch the six pack rack that I strapped my big SLR camera to, wear it as a fanny pack, and carry a quart less water. I will also consider replacing my bouncy Rock Shox Jett XC with something that won't dig me into the sand as much. To sum it all up, some of the views are fantastic, I got some excellent pictures, and the side trip to the arch was worth the effort.
Recommended Route: an early start and a careful pace

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Summary: This ride is all about the highs and the lows of the sport. Awesome sections that demand scouting, technial skills, and some guts give you the highs. The lows came from evil sand streches that were amazing in there sandy lengths. The sand gets worse the closer you get to the river. Friends and I agreed, it was the longest 20 mile shuttled ride of our lives, but fun. I'd ride it again. I'd have to be in the right mood and the nightmares of sand, bikes and me would have to stop.
Recommended Route: we started off 191 and emerged by the shuttle down by the river.
Other recommended trails in the same area: If you liked the sand riding on this one check out the pacific shore. San Diego to L.A. can be done with a road ride on the freeway to form a loop. But the only thing better than a freeway ride is a sand ride, so I would recommend the out and back option.
