The trail is full of rolling hills, twisting singletrack and few road sections. It is a fast course, and any one with moderate skills can enjoy it.

Trail Directions
From Monteagle on 41A, the entrance to the school is on your left. the trail starts in the large field to the right of the highway. It isn't marked very well, so you'll have to get a local to show it to you. It is worth the trouble.

Summary:
My earlier review was for the Sewanee College trail. The St. Andrews School is a prep school and these trails are open and raced each Spring. Lots of good singletrack and they opened some new sections last race. There are some muddy spots down by the school, which can be avoided by skipping that section--just ride straight out to the water tower. There are multiple trails and fireroads in the area and I haven't been back there enough to get explore them all. The race course is 7 miles or so. Very close to I-24 recommended for easily lost travellers. Not hardcore, but plenty of fun.

Recommended Route:
Park by the gym (to the left as you enter). Then ride down by the tennis courts and follow trial until it dumps you into fields past the pond. Then find your way to the water tower for the rest of the trails, which after microwave tower will put you back out on road. Left on road for 1/2 mile or so then right into pine thicket that'll put you into the big field where the races start/finish.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
FSF is just down the road.

Summary:
HAS A NICE WARM UP IF YOU CIRCLE AROUND THE TRACK. A LITTLE TRICKY PART WITH ROOT CENTRAL. SOME NICE HILLS TO ASEND, AND A GOOD BIT OF SPEED, MIXED WITH SOME SWITCHBACK. FANTASTIC FOR THE BEGINNER, CAN BECOME PRETTY CHALLENGING FOR THE ADVANCED RIDER, YOU CAN MAKE THAT DECISION. I CALL IT MY VAL HALLAH, IT HAS HELPED ME TO BECOME A CYCLE ENTHUSIST,AND ALSO HELPED THE ROAD TO RECOVERY IN MY BATTLE AGAINST CANCER. WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY THIS TRAIL STARTED MY LIFE.

Recommended Route:
PICK IT AND STICK IT

Summary:
the more people ride, the faster it gets. I know the folks who maintain the trail and they do a great service. look out for the occasional runner, but the trail is up and down with some open-faced rock, quick descents, and some sharp hill-climbs...some parts are technical, but overall a very good intermediate trail.

Recommended Route:
turn into St Andrews and park at the gym...trail starts around track and goes beside horse pasture and up towards a water tower...veer right near the top and start...it includes some fire road and paved road; the entrys are to the right on the paved roads and can be a little confusing at first, but well worth the effort!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
perimeter trail (equestrian center) franklin state forest, tims state park, lock4,

Summary:
a very fun trail. I would do it every day if I had the chance. A few lung busting climbs by the fire tower, and many downhills. variations on the trail can make it much harder. Especially going back the way you came.

Recommended Route:
start at the far end of the baseball field, take the switchback to the cross country trail, go up by the fire tower, take sam's trail, right, then another right
to the top of the road, then a left at the top entrance of the res, then loop around and do the perimeter trail in sewanee.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
perimeter trail, old railroad tracks, alto road
