75North of Knoxville.Approximately 12 miles.Take Big ridge state park exit,go right off of interstate.go past rocky top market or stop and ask them where the entrance is to Norris dam.Off of the interstate it is 2 miles on the left, just past appalachian museum on left.
Summary: Norris (aka The Watershed) is a great network of trails that is improving. With the completion of the Lake View trail (4+ miles of new trail, not fire road) you can now access the trail system out of the East campground or cabin area for those wanting to make a weekend or overnighter of it. The watershed is not well known for its single track or technical stuff but it is there if folks would take the time to go exploring. Ridgecrest & White Pine are both excellent single track. It's also well worth it to go explore Belmont and the other trails on the east side of Upper Clear Creek Rd. The downhill is fast, the climbs long and if you look around you will even find a little technical matter to keep you interested. If you are within 2 or 3 hours drive in NC, GA or KY stay at the East campground or cabin area (Norris Dam, TN State Park) and spend the weekend riding. Haw Ridge is just a 25 minute drive from Norris and this area has a lot to offer.
Summary: Great for a good workout! Great climbs and awesome downhills!
Recommended Route: Start out going up Highpoint Trail until you see White Trail on the right, go down White Trail and stay left at the bottom it will immediately start a climb up to Red Hill road, go right on Red Hill down to Upper Clear Creek road, go left until you see Mockingbird Trail on the left, go up Mockingbird Trail to Highpoint Trail, go right until you see Lakeside loop on the left, take Lakeside back to Highpoint then go right, take Highpoint back to Freeway on the right, take Freeway down to Ridgecrest on the left, Ridgecrest will take you back down to the start.

Summary: Excellent workout all around. I'm more of a singletrack fan in general, but enjoy Norris more and more every time I ride it. Lots of different loops to combine for a quick after-work ride, or an all-day exploration.
Recommended Route: Straight up High Point trail to the top of the hill! After that last painful climb, take a right to continue down HP - super fast steady downhill with lots of water bars to get plenty of air on. Left to the lakeside loop (watch out for hidden holes when the trail is leafy!) back up to high point, then left down red hill to raccoon run for more speed. Bust ass back down to the parking lot....

Summary: Norris is a great ride for all and the views are awsome, I am a beginning rider who rides with some bad-A mtbs and there is something for all. Killer climbs, supperfast down hill, and some switchbacks that you will meet yourself on. It is a great mix of single track, double track, fire, logging and gravel roads. There is alot of kick ass single track, but you need to ride with someone who knows the trails to find all of them because some are not marked well. If you want a great work out this is the place, The uphills will burn so good but the down hill A-hauling and jumps makes up for it. Oh yeah, watch out for the horses they like the single track trails.
Recommended Route: Just ask some local riders, about the observation point, ridge crest, white pines. The best place to get information about riding in Knoxville is Harpers Bike shop, they have contact information of people who ride alot and are glad to help.

Summary: Good workout in the uphill climb. Perfect for those rainy times where leaves might be an issue you might not want to address that day.
