The trail begins with a downhill that switches back several times on the way down. At the first intersection, cross the two track and continue straight. You will see the upper Ocoee Lakes to the right as you twist around the hills. The trail loops around and you climb back up the initial downhill. This is not a technical trail, nor is it very strenuous. It is a fun trail though, and one I would recommend if you are already riding at the Whitewater Center.
I-75 North to first Cleveland Exit. This is the Cleveland Bypass. Get off the bypass onto Highway 64 heading toward Ocoee. Pass the Ocoee Whitewater Center by about 2 miles. Road on the right says Boyd Gap Overlook. Park at the overlook.
Summary: Appreciate the hard work - and good job - trimming Brush Creek. Understand the local Chattanooga Bike Club organized the recent work party. Appeared we arrived at trail just a week or so after trimming work party. Trail in Very good shape ! Thanks.
However, wanted to forewarn riders. We flatted (3) of (4) tires on the trail this year - just after passing under the power lines near the east end of the trail. We rode out & back, and noticied the thorns in our tires at the Hwy 64/74 bridge - where trail passes under the bridge span. Thorns are from the trimming - but - trail "appears" relatively clean - not trashed from the trimming at all. Some thorns stuck to the tire casing itself - all were slow leaks - some thorns broke off - remained in tire.
Just a suggestion to carry extra tubes, use "Slime" tubes, or whatever... !
Still a very good ride to compliment the Whitewater Center trail network. More hikers on trail this year - so watch speeds on blind curves......
Recommended Route: Out & back.......

Summary: If you are visiting Chilhowee or the Whitewater Center, this ride makes a fantastic afternoon follow-up to the more streuous trails well known in this area. It is fast - very fast. Smooth single track, great scenery. Care on the multiple wooden bridges - as they are slick from moss / algae / wet. But trail overall is a cruising delight ! If you have family (young) that cannot climb the Whitewater Center trails, and you don't want to drive to the top campground at Chilhowee, this trail is a great alternative.
When reaching the end - you make a short climb back up to the highway. THis is a very fast / dangerous road, however, trailhead is a short climb (less than 2 miles) up the highway to the start point for the trail - at the overlook.
End of trail also (currently) has some poorly marked continuations - which you can disregard. Just follow trail under high span bridge - and take a left to come back up to trailhead at bridge - then right (west) to begin the climb back to starting point. Climb is not severe, and most can comfortably make climb - in lower gear....... just stay well to right on shoulder of road.
Recommended Route: Start at overlook - approx. 2.5 miles east of Whitewater Center.
Additional mileage gained - after doing Brush Creek Trail - and back to overlook parking lot - by taking trail to south of Brush - at overlook parking lot - steep, technical, washed out trail dropping down to trail adjacenet to river - then 2-3 miles along "cindered" easu trail - to Whitewater Center - care on downhill - steep, fast, rocky, and deep ruts.
Other recommended trails in the same area: All those across river from Whitewater Center, and Chilhowee.

Summary: Nice trail. It is still new so it needs to be ridden to break it in better but it is in good shape already! It is an easy trail to ride but you can get a good work out and have alot of fun if you go fast on it! I took my whole family on it and we did a "slow","scenic", ride on it and we all enjoyed it. It may be prone to get muddy after a rain?
Recommended Route: If you want a better work out then park at the White Water Center and ride the Old Copper Trail,(easy), to where it comes out on a road. Ride up the road about .5 mile to Boyd Gap Trail which will lead you up to the Brush Creek Trail.
The Boyd Gap Trail is hard but it is just a short connector trail.
Other recommended trails in the same area: T.R. Express, Chestnut Mtn Loop, Bear Paw,
Everything on the Chilhowee side!
