The Other Side

The trail starts on the other side of the Dry Creek Road. So park your car, and ride across the road. The ride starts on a logging road for a little over a mile. It is all up hill with a steep climb or two or three. The single-track starts to your right, so just keep an eye open. (you can stay on the logging road for another 25 minutes to get to an overlook, but it just dead-ends) Make an immediate right once on the single track. You will have to push your bike up the hill for about 2 minutes. The rest of the trail is somewhat technical with some steep climbs and some hang your butt off the back of the seat steep downhills. You will come to two forks in the single track, go right both times. You are staying on the beaten path, left is primitive. After the the two forks and along steep straight downhill, note the view to your right. After the view and a 25 foot long staight downhill section you will be at a clearing with a number of dead-end trails. Look back at the trail you just came down, and take the trail just to the left of the trail as you are looking back at it. The trail will zig-zag through woods and flatten out while taking you back to the start of the logging road.

Summary:
this trail is extremely technical with deep ruts and slippery roots. The surface has alot of loose rocks. once you get to the 25 foot long downhill section that is nearly straight keep going straight to hit some nice jumps. the trail after the jumps is very fun but is not nearly as steep. this part is very smooth with nice flowing corners.

Recommended Route:
same as rest

Other recommended trails in the same area:
blue trail, #1, muddy hollow, warriors path, bays mountain.

This route rocks! It also goes by the name Black Widow
Careful! I met a guy who broke his arm on this trail and has sworn it off. The route is well worth the up hill start.

Ditto on the awesome downhill. Slope is 45+ degrees in some sections Wimps need to go elsewhere or pay the price.

Awesome downhill, not for the inexperienced! I think it is the best downhill in the area. It is on Cherokee Mtn and is commonly called the WIDOWMAKER!
