Centenial Trail

This trail is in two parts. It is built on an old railroad bed, the first four miles are flat and fast, with various sizes of mostly well packed gravel. There is alot of old glass on the top part of the trail. The second part of the trail can be reached by crossing the road at the far end, going through the other parking lot and crossing the creek. This part is not as well maintained, but a little more technical. You can right this part 2.5 miles to the Lock A recreation area. I ride the trail alot because its close to home, it'll never give you an adrenalin rush, but its good for keeping in reasonable shape.

Summary:
Nice paved trail about 3-4 miles in length. It was smooth enough to ride on with my road bike with 700x20 tires. Nice trail for kids, escpecially beginners with training wheels.
Trail gets busy with pedestrian traffic and bicyle traffic especially on weekends.
Be careful for snakes along the trail during the early to late spring (Saw 4 in the round trip 1 which was poisonous.) Trail is near a wetland and there are bluffs on the other side. There is a small waterfall near the trail.
Not for racing in general but I do think they have a road bike race that uses this trail as part of a circuit.
Also excercise caution on the largest tressel, the planks run the length and small tires can get caught in between.

Recommended Route:
Starting from either end is good. It is nearly perfect level grade.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Canal Loop in KY (Mtn Bike)
North South Trail @ LBL in KY
Stones River Greenway System (not Mtn Bike) mostly paved.

Summary:
This trail is a wide, gravel, flat, walking trail (not singletrack). The scenery is great but the ride is not very exciting. Stick to the main trail, the newer addition starting at Eagles Pass isnt worth the effort on a bike. Pass hikers slowly, always at lot of "mall walkers" that grumble if you pass them fast. Be polite and share the trail.

Recommended Route:
Main 5 mile trail from Marks creek to Eagles Pass

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Rotary Park, Clarksville
