Racer Summary: New trail is being built. Phase one will reconstruct one small bridge, build two new bridges in the low areas and then we will add 1.5-2 miles to the interior of the existing loop. We have phase 2 that is approved will add an additional 3/4 mile and make approx 7 mile system. IF you have ideas for the area or want to help check the SORBA Chattanooga calendar for work days.
Here is an up to date trail guide

Cross Country Rider Summary: More trail to ride now. SORBA is adding several more miles and a couple of bridges. The loose hill that erodes has been taken out - trail rerouted around it. Still a blast. Watch out for poison oak.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Twisty single track, some roots, moderate climbs & decents...The lower portion tends to flood after heavy rain. All in all a good trail to hit after work if you live near by & are pressed for time, but not something I would waste a free Saturday on. Recommended Route: I ride the lolipop portion counter clockwise...just get out there & wander around. Other recommended trails in the same area: It is a shame there are not more trail near Chattanooga. There are so many places that have great potential but do not allow mountain bikes. Everyone has covered most of the XCish trails withing an hours drive, but I would put in Pigeon Mountain, Iron Mountain, Sumac, & Wendy Gap- they are not as manicured as the Ocoee/ Chilhowee trails and offer a few more log crossings, technical sections.

Cross Country Rider Summary: SORBA has gotten permission from Tennessee State Parks to add another leg to this loop that will open up the current "lollipop" to a full loop from the parking area. This will facilitate having race events at Booker T. which the park rangers are psyched about. We're going to use part of the old fitness trail that got grown over (we actually started in December '04) and then hand bench some nice narrow tread in the neck of park property between Champion Road and Chickenwater Lake. This will add nearly a mile to the loop. There is lots more acreage on the north side and especially the interior of the peninsula that the trail runs around to add even more. I think we could eventually have nearly ten miles out there, adding to the Singletrack Mind Initiative to have 100 miles of singletrack within 10 miles of metro Chattavegas by 2010. Can you dig it? Then check the SORBA-Chattanooga website calendar for trail work days or ask Erik at Owen Cyclery (he is the SMI liaison for Booker T.).

Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail was recently closed. It was hit hard by the 2 storms we had over the spring/summer. There are many trees down and lots of trail torn up by up rooted trees.
We had a clean up/Work day Nov 9th and much of the trail has been opened back up. There were 2 briges lost in the flooding in the spring. One was recovered and put back into place. The other is gone. It will have to be rebuilt and the gap it covered was large. If the trails are reopened there will still be a few places you should watch out for. THe bridge out will be one of them.
Call before you go and if the trails are closed leave your name and info to help us finish the clean up soon. Recommended Route: Go in at the trail head. Get there by going in at the main entrance and turn right after the pool. Ride from there. Follow the Bike Trail signs. Other recommended trails in the same area: Edwards, Mavic Springs, Chilhoww, Tanasi
