M Hill

Average Rating:    (4.86 of 5)

M Hill is the closest thing to being in the Hills, while still being in Rapid City. The Hill has many trails that fork off of just one. The whole hill has about, lets see 15 to 20 miles of trails around it. It varies from, technical descent to very easy hill climbs. Its a great all around trail, that i use for training.

Summary:
At least 10 miles of mostly single track trails. Well marked but lacking trail names. You can pick up maps at ACME bike shop to help you out. Some of the best if not the best riding in the hills right here in town. Intermediate to advanced to extreme level of trails.Beautiful views of the hills and Rapid City. From tight pine forrest to techy ,rocky single track over ramps and teeter totters to fast downhill. A trail for all skill levels. You wont be dissapointed.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
skyline drive, buzzards roost and loop 15

Summary:
This moutain bike/hiking/running is 15 plus miles of trail on about 300 acres of property owned and maintain by the private Hanson Larsen Memorial Park Foundation. Check the website at www.hlmp.org for maps and updates. There is terrain to entertain everyone. The park was laid out by IMBA and largely constructed by Trail Arts. The Black Hills is world class riding and the Hanson Larsen Memorial Park is the best start to any trip. You will meet some locals who will share some places you will not find on your own.

Summary:
For those of you who haven't heard there has been a major facelift on M-Hill. BHMBA members teamed up with Trail Arts to improve some of the existing trails and build a new DH trail. The DH trail is 60% complete, but once it's done it will Dirk's Draw has a kills drop in with a hard right hand wall ride into some more rocks. Once you finish the DH portion it takes you into the Jump line. The jumps were built with all skill levels in mind. You can go BIG or you can take it easy. It is a good time for all! For the person who likes XC, a challenging climb, mild to fast DH single tracks, rock gardens and everything in between. You will have a blast!

Summary:
First the location marker is in the wrong place. "M" Hill / Cowboy hill is the hill just SW of I-90 Exit 57. Trailheads are at the SW and SE end of the hill.
Jason one of the trail builders from IMBA just gave me a tour of the new trails. While the old trails are still there. There are now trails there for all skill levels, with a serious black diamond down hill trail and more trails in the works. Looking for tight technical single track, buffed fast single track, or getting some big air, you'll find it here. And it's in the middle of the city.

Recommended Route:
Just start riding, can't get lost. You'll find a favorite trail in no time.
