M Hill
3 reviews
 5 of 5

M Hill is the closest thing to being in the Hills, while still being in Rapid City. The Hill has many trails that fork off of just one. The whole hill has about, lets see 15 to 20 miles of trails around it. It varies from, technical descent to very easy hill climbs. Its a great all around trail, that i use for training.

Summary:
First the location marker is in the wrong place. "M" Hill / Cowboy hill is the hill just SW of I-90 Exit 57. Trailheads are at the SW and SE end of the hill.
Jason one of the trail builders from IMBA just gave me a tour of the new trails. While the old trails are still there. There are now trails there for all skill levels, with a serious black diamond down hill trail and more trails in the works. Looking for tight technical single track, buffed fast single track, or getting some big air, you'll find it here. And it's in the middle of the city.

Recommended Route:
Just start riding, can't get lost. You'll find a favorite trail in no time.

Summary:
Very rocky and technically challenging. The climbs are quite steep and are one hellova workout! If you can climb the entire hill without taking a break, give yourself a pat on the back! There are numerious outlooks of the city and surrounding area. MHill probably has some of the most technically challening trails in the hills! Just a side note: most all of the trails up there are not built up to IMBA standards. So there are corners that dont work very well and you have to really burn into your brakes. Other than that, I think M-Hill has the best trails to offer here in town.

Recommended Route:
Climb up on the double track from the Dirt Jumps by U-Haul and take the first single track on your left. When you get to the radio tower, take your pick of downhills!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
None, unless you go out of town "Storm Mountain, BoneCollector, Cookie Monster, Bulldog, Alkalie Creek, Victora Lake"

Summary:
This is a fun hill to play around on. It has allot of rocks so it's a rough ride on a hard tail. However it is a very established area for riding, and has a variety of different features.
