Weekend Warrior Summary: Great single track loop. You'll be mostly in trees but there are some meadows. Take the time to go to the top of Old Baldy for a good view.
The trail head is pretty easy to find. The trail is marked as Trail 66 on the Black Hills National Forest map. If you're coming from Spearfish, get on Utah Blvd by Wal-mart and head west for about 1.5 miles. Take a left on McGuigan Rd and that will turn into Forest Service road 134. It's about 10-15 miles of gravel and the trail head is on the right. If you're coming from a different direction, look at your forest service map. Recommended Route: Counter-clockwise seems to be the best route around the loop. Other recommended trails in the same area: Little Spearfish Creek (Trail 80 on FS map) right by the Timon campground.
Eagle Cliff cross country ski area (Trail 68 on FS map) on US 85.
Crow Peak if you really want to take a beating.

, from Rochester, MN Summary: This is a nice ride set in the spectacular Black Hills. The trail itself was of intermediate difficulty but very well "designed" with interesting terrain, good speed, and good scenery. I was a bit surprised by the lack of panoramic views given the trails name (I did not have time to hike to the top of Old Baldy) but I was not disappointed. The drive to the trailhead up Spearfish canyon was spectacular. This ride wet my appetite for more Black Hills riding. After talking to locals it sounds like great riding is all over the place and goes well beyond the reviews on this site and those by biking mags in recent years.

, from Sturgis, SD Summary: What a great ride, some of the most technical riding in the Black Hills. There is cattle in the area and watch out for the "Bovine Land Mines", they get a little slippery. The scenery is outstanding, there are some pictures posted in the communities section of MSN in the community named "cyclists" actually there are pics from this trail, Alkali, and The Mickelson Trail. The pics were taken Thursday Sept 20, 2001. You can get directions to the trailhead at 2-wheeler dealer in Spearfish, however it isn't hard to find it's about 15 miles out of town. Recommended Route: The trail loops and I would recommend the east loop Other recommended trails in the same area: Alkali Creek, Centennial Trail

, from rapid city Summary: This is mountain biking at its best for overall challenge and beauty for the beginning/intermediate rider. Great singletrack, some technical and lots of meandering downhill. The views from Mt. Baldy are especially stunning in the Fall when the aspens are glowing. Recommended Route: the trails loops and both ways are a blast Other recommended trails in the same area: Alkalai Creek near Sturgis
