Summary:
Great dayride with awesome views of 60,000-acre lake. This trail is not difficult, but it takes some endurance. It's flat on the trail, but you can ride up and down the dike slopes for some thrills. Lots of wildlife, including waterfowl, reptiles and occasional alligators near rediversion canal. There is designated camping along this trail. Part of this trail goes through Bonneau, and it takes some navigating to get back on the route after leaving the first dike system. Local folks are very friendly and helpful. In summer months, bring water, sunscreen and a little cash to snag a Gatorade in Bonneau.

Recommended Route:
U.S. Highway 52 past Moncks Corner has very good parking area with clean water source. It's also trail head for Swamp Fox Passage. You get an incredible view of the lake near this trail head before you start riding.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Anything in the Francis Marion National Forest. Swamp Fox Passage of the Palmetto Trail connects to this trail.

Summary:
All of trail is on the dike, packed dirt. 2 miles of road to start if you start at Bonneau landing off hwy 52. Awesome for a workout or to be with nature... you never run into anyone.

Recommended Route:
Bonneau boat landing, as far as you can go, and back. Or catch the trailhead at canal rec. area on hwy 52. As of july part of this area is closed due to construction. But it's not hard to out-ride the heavy equipment for a dirty ride.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Swamp Fox passage connects to moultrie passage, but in the summer the Swamp Fox is darn near impassable due to water, mud, muck etc. If you want dirty, this is for you.
