Thanks to Deno Contos of Benchmark Trails of Greenville, Bike Worx owner Eric Turner and the volunteers from SORBA Spartanburg has a very good new trail. Six miles of great singletrack trails with enough topography, high-banked curves and obstacles to make it an exhilarating ride. Trails are still new but packed and in good condition.

Summary:
Found this trail Friday afternoon unfortunately right after a heavy rain. The trail was fun got my heart rate up. I am riding a 21 speed Nashiki hardtail with tires that are for trails not serious off roading so needless to say that with the trail being wet I slipped a lot cant wait to go back when dry and also when i get some better tires!

Recommended Route:
Parked at top of lot at sign for trail went in there followed tail to bottom of hill at bridge turned came back up the other side got half way up and it started raining again got to the truck as it started hailing! My ratings for difficulty are based on my being out of shape!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Mary Black for an easy warm up park by Bike Worx and ride up to park then have a nice relaxing ride back

Summary:
There is a constant flow of vertical and lateral movements on a very groomed trail tread making it seem like a roller coaster when you keep your speed up. Speed is the determining factor of difficulty with this trail due to the lack of rocks or roots. There are man made and natural banks at almost every turn of the trail that allows for you to keep your speed up giving you the opportunity to lean into some high speed white knuckled turns. The inclination for speed also lends itself to some jumping opportunities if you are a freerider. This is also a great trail for newbies and kids wanting to get a feel for some g's at even slow speeds. XC racers like this trail to hone in their high speed turning and bike positioning skills. Speed determines the technical difficulty of this trail system. The trail tread is nicely maintained.

Recommended Route:
Start at the "top" of the trail system behind the open field at the memorial/stage area nearest Union Street. Pretend the trail system is like a ski slope offering a number of trails to go down. Once you go all the way down to the wooden bridge, then you can take one of the flowing trails back to the top for a technical climb or take the more direct slight grade climb up the cog trail back to the stage area. There is a lake trail you can continue on past the wooden bridge for a recovery with some nice scenery. Another alternate path is available for those who want to take it up a notch with some very tight and winding technical trails. The Monorail trail starts just behind the ball fields and parallels the tree line until it dips into a twisty mess of short verticals and laterals and just a few high speed straights. There is some climbing involved as well on this trail.

Croft State Natural Area - Dairy Ridge Rd entrance and Southside entrance (more difficult)

Summary:
Trails are short and sweet. Lots of great single track cuts and jumps. Some areas are newly packed and still slippery when wet. Great quick ride before going to work!

Recommended Route:
Park behind old stadium, take entrance on left and cut in to the right
