Ridden Trail: Once a week

Cross Country Rider Summary: I did this trail for the first time on Labor Day 2004, in a mild rain. It was a great ride. We started at the top of the trail, at the parking lot on 283 and went approximately 3 miles into Turkey Creek after ending Wine Creek. I definitely recommend this trail. The bottom of the trail is very fast - not as fast as Bartram Lake trail, but still quite fast. The top of the trail near the parking lot can be a bit technical and was intimidating for me (just started this mountain biking thing 2 months ago). Still, I think I'll probably be able to fly over them soon once I get comfortable with the new bike.
This trail is great for beginners to see what some minor technical work is like but with a majority of the trail still easily rideable for newbies. As of Labor Day 2004 it was recently cleared and is a blast to ride. Recommended Route: Take 28 (Fury's Ferry) up to 283, hang a right and it's about half a mile past Key Br. Rd. Also, if you hang a right on Key Rd you will hit the spot where wine and Turkey Creek connect. Other recommended trails in the same area: Turkey Creek, Bartram Lake, Augusta Canal

, from colatown Summary: this trail is really fun and fast. its nice and curvy and well maintained. nice scenery too. it runs along wine creek for a while and you have to cross over it at one point. its got a really cool kinda techy switchback that drops into a little ravine and shoots back up real quick too. there's also a couple other rocky spots that are kinda tricky. overall though this trail is super fast and tons o fun. i think my friend got 4.6 miles on his computer, so its short and sweet. but you can make an epic 25 miler if ya want by parking at the parking lot on 283 and riding all the way to the end of turkey creek and comin back. Recommended Route: either way is fun Other recommended trails in the same area: turkey creek is cool, baker and hickory knob, modoc's fun-lots of switchbacks through ravines and along ridges

, from Savannah Ga Summary: I got to ride this trail after having moved to Savannah Ga. We did a Sunday rode trip. This trail rocks and is in great shape. Fast with short quick climbs, great fast straights, and excellent challenging semi-technical areas. Both the guys, neither of whom are online, were totally thrilled with the trail. After having ridden only the flat trails in Savannah Ga it totally kicked their butts and they luved every mile of it. This trail is well worth the trip to ride. You guys are lucky to have all the fine trails so close to Augusta. Recommended Route: 5 miles straight in and back out Other recommended trails in the same area: Augusta Canal, Turkey Creek, Lick Fork Lake

, from north augusta Summary: I swear there is a little green man pushing you the whole way - in both directions! This trail is simply fun to ride. It is the best trail to take a first timer - they may have to walk a few technical sections. Overall, this trail is perhaps the finest of the lot in the McCormick area. It is hard to beat and can be part of several different all day rides. Would be closed (vegetation overgrowth) if not for the efforts of a strong group of local volunteers (SORBA-CSRA). Recommended Route: Out and back Other recommended trails in the same area: Turkey, Stevens, Baker Creek SP, Hickory Knob SP
