Sadlers Creek State Park

Fairly easy singletrack. The trail is new and is sometimes difficult to locate due to fallen limbs and re-emerging undergrowth. Look for pieces of surveyor's tape in the trees. The trail will be very good once it's been ridden some. There are portions of tight, twisty single track. The are some roots, rocks, and lots of sticks, however, it's not real technical. The most technical move is a 4 foot drop-off with a switchback at the bottom. The trail crosses the paved roads in the park at several spots. These can be used to add variety or change the length.

Summary:
Pretty nice trail. Not as fast as I prefer but it was very senic. Great views of Lake Heartwell. Rode out on a beach at the end of the road the ball field is on. That was cool. Also saw 4 deer at 3 different times. Not very technical. Only real negative is apparently a storm had gone through there sometime ago and knocked down ALLOT of trees about 1.5 - 2 miles in. We couldn't go around so we got off the trail and picked it up again from the ball field road. Chris from Sandy Springs, my riding buddy and I would be happy to help you clear out the trees. Other than this issue it was a pleasant ride.

Recommended Route:
Out and back

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Isaqueena

Ridden Trail:
Once a month

Summary:
This is my favorite of all trails. It has no deliberately placed obstacles. If you like riding your bike in the woods but you don't do BMX maneuvers, or if you're a beginner, this trail is ideal. You can get up some speed on it and get a workout. There are no jumps, and that suits me just fine. There are no longer downed trees across the trail, and the trail is complete--the section that goes past the rec center is now open. You'll see some history on this trail--remains of old home places, remains of cars and trucks abandoned there before most of us were born, and even indentations left by cotton rows. You're likely to see lots of deer and maybe even a few fox. Don't worry about the foxes being less timid than you'd expect--they're tame, not rabid. With permission from the park staff, I've been maintaining this trail, so if you see downed trees or other problems, please send me an e-mail.

Recommended Route:
My favorite circuit is to start at the kiosk at the far end of the park, ride to and around the loop at the opposite end of the trail, and then retrace. This is an eight-mile circuit. Right now, the trail is marked with orange (and in some places, pink) surveyor's tape in the trees. Be sure to follow these markings and not the indentations in the forest floor--there are deer trails that will lead you astray. In response to a recommendation from the park staff, I plan to replace the pink and orange tape with blue--I hope to have that finished before the leaves fall in the autumn.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Issaqueena has several first class beginner trails. Hickory Knob has a beginner trail too (Beaver Run), but it is blocked in several spots by deliberately placed obstacles without bypasses.

Summary:
My wife loves this trail. It is very easy with virtually no climbing(only slight inclines). My wife gets a workout and I spen time communing with nature. Really though it is a great family trail and/or a good way to get into mtb'ing.
Right now though there are several trees down from storm, so it might take a while for the park to get it all cleared away. 5 stars for somewhere to take family.

Recommended Route:
Out & Back

Great beginner trail. A new trail that has character of old trails. Easy to follow as it winds through the trees. You can pedal slowing and enjoy the scenic views and wildlife or you can crank and get that heart pumping. Beautiful state park with camping. Would love to ride at night.
