Take the Ferry from Point Judith or the Fairy from Long Island. Leave your car and espically the SUV behind. So what if you ride a full suspension bike on the road all over the island. Follow the south road from New Harbor to the hiking trail head at the crossing of Conneymus Road

Ridden Trail:
Ridden Once

Summary:
Defintely nothing technical about the island. Respect the walking paths and stick to the dirt roads and paths. Check out the South side of the Island where you can do some exploring. Overall, I say air up the tires, take off the bash ring, put on your big chain ring and ride the island. Its a good place to practice your trackstands etc, but your bike will be more for transportation rather than recreation.

Recommended Route:
No particular trails. There is a dirt path/road that runs along Rodman's Hollow. Nothing technical, but great views.

Recommended Route:
old harbor to s.e.light (walk around) 2)to mohegan bluffs down nitro stairs to beach take left, and walk for about, check the shack made from washed up drift wood .... the view here and sound of the crashing surf is great. 3) get back to bike take left out of bluffs and travel about 1.8 mile to snake hole road and follow this road into rodmans hollow, the views from the hollow are about the best you will find anywhere. follow the path out of the hollow onto main road. 4) follow your map to coast guard road and follow until it is to sandy. look out on the grat salt pond, you can see dozens of seals on certains days hanging out on the rocks soaking up some rays. 5) get back to main road and follow map to clay head, you can ride your bike up to a certain point then only walking is allowed, you must walk through the "blue maze" to the bluffs, this is one of the best walks you will ever take, listen and watch carefully. 6) back to main road and follow to settlers rock, park your bike and walkt to the north light house and the "spit" where the tides converge" this is very cool walk" be careful in the spring and early summer the birds will be swooping down at you. 7) finish the day off at the mohegan cafe in town, try their summer citrus ale and chili pepper ale. 8) do no forget to kayak in the great salt pond when you visit. happy adventuring, jjonrunner

Ridden Trail:
Once a year

Reviewed by: CharlesDexterWard , from West Hartford, CT, USA

Summary:
This trail isn't really for hardcore MTBers. I mean, there are paths, but nothing that you could call technical. The areas where some really fun biking could be done are off limits to bikers, and BI takes conservation VERY seriously. My recommendation is to ride a road bike around the island and hike the hollow.

Recommended Route:
Begin at the entrance to Rodman's Hollow and follow the trail to the cliff (don't fall off). There are some short side trails to explore, but bikes are not allowed in the really fun areas.
