Lincoln Woods

The best riding is in the north. I do a clockwise loop. There are too many options to mention. Be sure to ride above sites 27 and 9. 36 to 4 is a great downhill. The trails come in all shapes and sizes. There are some sick lines that you can take down and across the Table Rock area. Explore, then go swim in the lake.

Summary:
LW is pretty good. I am new to this and my buddy took me out for my first real trail experience last weekend. I was doing good so we hit some pretty technical stuff. There is a sick short uphill climb with rocks on both sides....gotta get that after a few more tries. If your new to the sport ( like myself ), be up for the challenge, both mental and physical. You'll get an awesome workout here. You'll also be scared as hell when your flying down a trail and come up on a down hill drop with rocks, roots and boulders in your path. F%^&ing Awesome.... I busted my a$$ a few times and that was awesome too.

Recommended Route:
We took a right after entering from 146, went all the way down to the parking lot;got our bikes and then took the road all the way up into the park, past the lake and hit a trail on the left at the stop sign.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Sure as hell not the power lines. Caught 2 flats due to thorns. Sucked.....my legs were torn up too. STAY AWAY!!!!

Summary:
I've ridden Stinky (the woods) for about 7 years now. It's where I learned to ride and where I go back to learn new things. The perfect training grounds for any serious mt. bike racer. (I race expert) Also the perfect stomping grounds for working Joe Shmoe and his 2 kids. That's the beauty of stinky, there's a little bit of everything, tight tree tapping single track, steep ups, sick downs, drops, logs, boulders, trials, balance challenges, super technical or super mellow it's a mt. bike play land. This is all of course if you don't mind the blaring music in the summer. Watch out for horse bombs, dumped trash =(, broken glass, and small children. You can't get lost here, unless you really really try, I only have once. If you think you are... just keep going... you'll come to a road. Enjoy my stomping grounds but treat her nice.

Recommended Route:
Come in from the 146 main gate, turn left... park on the side of the road. Drop into the trail on the left and the let the fun begin. Depending on your creativity you can hit about 15 miles with only a couple minor road crossings.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Slap on your climbing shoes, this is the bouldering mecca of new england!!! I say so...

Summary:
Okay.. when i first started riding mountain bikes (i donno, like 10 years old) i would screw around up here.) then i got pretty fat because i didnt do anything but drink beer and eat pizza for 4 years in highschool.. anyway.. that has nothing to do with this review.. i got back into pretty good shape with a bike i bought, then one day i decided to go back to the woods and have fun. SO.. i go back and i went nuts.. so many little things there.. flat rocks, gravel NASTY downhills... EVIL UPHILLS that make u feel good when you ride over em. jumps, dirtriding mud everywhere.. its great. Just be careful.. some of those horse trails get FAST and they end in strange places. If u screw up you could go for a nice 20 foot fall or end up in some trees somewhere. After riding there 2 or 3 times a week now for 5 years, i know just about everything but i still manage to find new places to ride. My fav trail takes you right through just about half of the park and right down to the ball field (its fast and dangerous and thats the way i like it)

Recommended Route:
Well, all of these directions are right, for me i just throw my helmet and shin guards in my bag and hop on my bike and ride up 246 north until i hit some crippled plaza take a right after the phone booth and ride right under the highway and boom, im there.

Summary:
I love this place, because it IS my back yard. I started riding trails here when i was just a little kid, with a bmx bike, and scooters, and stuff,Mostly just having fun. bought a mountain bike, and started ripping it up, it has everything. just bought a dual susp dh bike its heavy and tough to get up hills but goin down whoo boy like butter. there are some realy intense runs here too, ive recently found a 15 foot drop to a nice landing, try and find the trials park, the Big BIG down hill run, the bmx track, try and find the 4ft table top, bet you cant, I know all the secrets, and i still find new stuff all the time, ps dont swim in the pond.

Recommended Route:
Park your car, start on the road, as soon as you see a trail into the woods take it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Saylesville park, cool place to screw around, some nice launchers.
