Yellow Creek State Park

Average Rating:    (5 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 2

The trail starts on the right hand side of a service road that is in close proximity to the parking lot for the yellow creek beach area. The trail begins as excellent, soft, winding through pines singletrack. Eventually it comes out onto a dirt road. You then make a right and go onto an old paved semi gravel road and pass a gate. The trail is down and to the left. You are now back on a single track, but this time it will be much much much more technical. Lots of climbing as well.

Summary:
The first part of the trail can be ridden by intermmediate level mountain bikers, but that eventually changes to advanced riders only. The first part of the trail is easy sinlgetrack that winds through pines. At this point the ride is smooth and fast paced. Eventually reaching the second section of singletrack however, the pace changes to excruciating uphill climbs. During the second half of your ride you will experience what it is to have dead legs, cuts, bruises, soft spots, and hopefully no broken bones. There are awesome technical rock sections, trees to get over, some nasty but lovely descents, and sweet bridges. Have fun but be careful.

Recommended Route:
There is a service road within close proximity to the parking area for the yellow creek beach side. Jump on that service road and head uphill until you see singletrack on the right marked with a red flag or red spray paint. Follow this single track until you come to a dirt road. Make a right on the dirt road and then follow it onto an old semi paved partial gravel road. When you see the gate in front of you, go around it and down the hill towards the lake. On the left side nearing the bottom of the hill you will see singletrack on your left. Prepare yourself both physically and mentally.

Whites Woods: North 12th Street Indiana PA
Roaring Run: Apollo PA
