Thornhurst State Park

Average Rating:    (3.25 of 5)

Mostly full hard packed stone roads, as close to pavement as your going to get..Probably 30+ miles. No technical stuff here, just inclines and declines. Great for the beginner or a place to take the whole family.

Am I hearing this correct, we are not allowed to ride the single track in there any more?? Well that stinks, This place has some of the best technical single track i have ever riden. Its not real enduring, but it is killer. Awsome remote location. I can't imagine there is a conflict with the hikers, I've never seen a soul in there!!

Recommended Route:
not sure!! I don't think its maped out

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The trail at bradys is pretty good, very technical!!

Summary:
The singletrack here is great, too bad it's off limits to bikers now. I have ridden them in the past and they are excellent technical trails. Bikersw in the area need to organize to address the inequality in treatment between hikers and bikers. This area is part of the poconos and should make any attempts they can top promote tourism aof their area. Does anyone think people would be driving from all over to Jim Thorpe without the open door for mtn. bikers? The leadership of that town got it right.

Recommended Route:
Both sides of Suscan Rd. are great.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The poconos and scranton and wikes-barre area have too much to describe here.

Summary:
Lots of inclines and declines...check out pittston road and go to top of mountain from there, nice view.
there is 1 wet spot, once on the top of the hill off of pittston rd, go down the grassy single track along the creek, if you avoid that you can ride without any hitch all day on a hard packed road....as far as technical, i bunny hopped a few dead animals , but that was it......a nice day out, a great recuperating ride after a day of extreme stuff. Also there are facilities on the grounds....But the reason for the review is hopefully the Ranger Will open the SINGLE track hiking trail to the Bikers,,,,when that happens this may be a real diamond in the rough, i saw some of them and they are wicked, i would love to try them out.

Recommended Route:
start right off the main road, park in 1 of many parking areas....go to shed for map.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
gouldsboro state park/ same level
