Cross Country Rider Summary: Sals (as known locally) is designed and maintained by the Lehigh Valley Mouintain Bikers association (bikevmb.com). The organization desereves many thanks for their work designing and maintinging trails in the Lehigh Valley. Great length of continuous single track trails (~ 10 miles). For New Jersey riders, tackle this after your are comfortable with Round Valley. Boulder trail is a serious technical rocky section. People who ride smooth or rooty single track will find this difficult due to the many rocks. In my book, this trail rates #3 for technical and aerobic challenge behind Lehigh and Emmaus. Great ride to get acquaited with Lehigh Valley technical single track. Well maintained and marked. Join or donate $ to bikevmb.com if you like the ride. Recommended Route: From Dodson Park: Ride CCW
Yellow Blaze (is a lolipop loop)
Bear Right on Red
Bear Right on Orange
Right back onto Red (rip the long smooth sections and the huge birm turns.)
Cross Constitution Ave and look for "Walking Purchase Park" Sign on left.
Re-enter red trail.
Follow switch backs: Bear right onto Blue at turn #3.
Follow Blue all the way to the top of the hill.
Bear right onto unblazed trail - good up-hill technical climb over tree.
Bear right back onto Blue.
Bear Right onto Purple.
If you are up for more challenge: Left onto Blue, go 100 yds then
Right onto Boulder Trail, Right back onto Red.
To avoid the Boulder Trail: from Purple, Right onto Blue, then Right onto Red.
Red back to Yellow, watch for sign to Dodson Parking Lot.
Allow 1.5 hrs of steady moderate pace riding with out breaks. Allow 2 hrs with a group taking breaks.
Other recommended trails in the same area: In order of difficulty:
Jordan Creek Park
Jacobburg
Lehigh
Emmaus
