Rock's Ridge

This trail has a few other trails to link to it and a snowmobile trail. You can get to this trail from the snowmobile trail at minnich spring picnic area, but it hard to describe because of all the trail heads to describe, so that's why I telling you about it from wolf pond road.

This trail is extreme difficulty for beginner, but a blast for the hard core riders. This trail is rocky like an atv trail, but a true singletrack (no motor vehicle ever rode this trail). The trail has some hardcore rock ledges and 3' to 4' drop offs down slate rock ledges. It will take you anywhere from 1/2 to 1 hour to ride this trail, unless you know it like the locals maybe 20 minutes.

There is the other trail across from where you park (on right side of wolf pond road) called mountain top that leads out the hang glider area. We usually ride rock's trail from minnich spring and tie the other three trails to the loop to get to the hang glider area.

Trail Directions
Drive to lykens. You could also start this ride from elizebethville as well. If you come from Elizebethville you go up route 225 towards halifax. I would say 1/2 mile up the hill from town there is a limestone quarry on the left where you take a left. follow this road until you come to white oak road. Follow the dirt road until you come to a dirt road called wolf pond on the right (half way up the hill). Take a right turn and the trail is on the left about 1 mile down the road. From Lykens take hardtop road to weiser forest. After passing park and watershed take lukes road on right (1st dirt road and parking lot). Follow road for 2 miles and at "Y" intersect take right up white oak road. About 1.5 miles take left turn onto wolf pond road. Follow road for about 1 mile and trail is on left side.

Summary:
Rode this trail and others in the area with Keith and the group from the Rattling Creek Single Trackers. This trail rocks! It is one of the best singletrack rock garden/technical trails I've ever seen. Because it's mostly flat (relatively speaking) you can really power through these sections and get some great speed in the flatter smooth singletrack areas. Great XC fun for technical and advanced riders (not many drops or features for the big air crowd). Also good area for camping/riding trip (Weiser State Forest).

Recommended Route:
Being from out of town, I recommend contacting the RCST for a group ride or joining RCST to get their excellent map of the area trails which they built and maintain extremely well.

Summary:
This trail is the hardest one to ride in weiser forest and lives up to it's name (we name it after rock martin, who helped represent MTB rider with PGC issues we had the pass 2 years). This trail is similiar to Rattle snake ridge down michele state forest. the rock ledges are great to ride and if you ride this trail at the end of your hardcore epic ride it will kill you. I must have crashed alot of times trying to clean these drop offs and rock gardens. I would say 80% of the trail is rocks, but this trail isn't as bad ass kicking as the "Extension trail up Rothrock state forest". We build the trail so you can ride all the sections (some may have a 4' drop off).

We have guys whole night ride this trail and say every ride the trail looks different.

If you don't like pennsylvania slate rocky trails, don't bother even riding this trail. I rode harder trails, but know I'll never clean this one.

Recommended Route:
From minnich picnic area up snowmobile trails to trail on left side. Take deep hollow snowmobile from top of white oak road is easiest way in because trail is on right side of trail (When driving up to white oak road and seeing wolf pond road on right this deep hollow snowmobiloe trail is at top of hill).
