Middletown Trail System

Average Rating:    (2.5 of 5)

The park is single track, small but fun. Ride all the little trails in it then head up the hill in the back, towards Hidden Hollow swim club. Here you can start a 3 mile loop around the orchard, do it counter clokwise, more fun. Another trail starts near the driveway entrance to the swim club, more trails back there, eventually linking to the future rail/trail (somewhat passable now)

Summary:
Trails here are mostly used by people to walk their dogs,so watch for landmines. I personally run here 3 times a week and have only rode these trails twice due to the empty feeling you get when you realize how short the trail system is. Also, these trails are closed to bikes according to the sign posted next to the trail map at Indian Orchard Park, which is the starting point for the middletown trail system. These trails can be challenging for a beginner with no conditioning but, if your an avid rider these trails wear out in about 30 mins.

Recommended Route:
Follow posted Indian Orchard trail markers to junction with Linvalla trail markers. Follow downhill along Hidden Hollow Swim Club tennis courts cross over linvilla rd. and follow to chester creek. End. Turn around and pedal all the way back up that long steady hill you just came down Appox. 5 miles.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Brandywine Creek State Park/ Woodlawn Trust. DE.

Summary:
Trail was very challenging, considering its the first and only trail I've been on so far since I started riding. A few steep descents and ascents. Flew over the handle bars going over one of the many small bridges. I was definitely out of breath after finishing all the loops. I would recommend this trail to someone who has been riding for awhile. I will continue to ride this trail because it's the only decent one in this area that i know of and it gives the rider a sense of accomplishment. The directions given were excellent and it was not hard to find.
