Summary:
Everything from single track to well groomed double track to bridge's and elevated. Only downfall is some of the wood stuff is getting pretty beat up. I wish I knew who was working on it, I'd love to help fix up maintain it.

I usually park at Weissport and ride to JT by the birch's and head back. Good after work ride for me and easily ridable with a 9spd since there isnt a ton of climbing.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Trexler, Jabocsburg

Summary:
You have a combination of towpath, singletrack and north shore style riding to each side of the towpath. Ride could be started either in Weisport or JT. A lot of twists and turns with ups and downs tossed in. Then throw in a bridge here and there, a teeter totter, and some flowing singletrack, and you've got some great trails. Not the longest but it's enough to give you a good ride. Definitely worth riding.

Recommended Route:
I usually start in JT by the supermarket, follow the dirt road to the sewer plant, go to the right and between the stone walls, and swing to the left. Follow this all the way and just shoot off to the left or right whenever you see singltrack. Can't get lost. All the trails come back to the main towpath.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Switchback, Broad Mtn, Lehigh U, South Mtn

Summary:
Well it's been quite a while since I've ridden this trail or reviewed it since my first one in 2001. Also I've learned to type ;) as I'm ashamed of my skills in '01. So anyway I got to come home for a weekend and brought my bike, figured I'd ride down to Weisport to see my ole friend Rod (Who by the way has a Killer B&B). But anyway, I was really excited when I seen the improvements to the trail, especially the North Shore style stuff towards the end. I'm very glad that the bikers of the Thorpe area are still going strong, and I'm hoping to get back again soon, and will always love the Canal for a quick rip!!

Recommended Route:
I start in JT, go past the JT market, Run the tracks to the sewer plant, go around the back of the plant, nice rocky river bed style riding, up a short steep, then you there. I take the left single track, to the tow path, back left again, to tow path, then switch it up to the right after the rail bridge, make sure you look for it, it's easy to miss, and it is worth it. Stay right all the way to Weisport, then rinse and repeat in reverse.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
American Standard, Broad Mountain stuff, (I bought my first fishing license in years ), Tamaqua Bungalow Race Coarse, and Mary D/Brockton Mountain Stuff.

Summary:
Don't be fooled...this ride is excellent ! Alot of work has went into the trails the last couple of years. There is excellent fast singletrack that is connected by short stints on the towpath. It goes from the Weissport Lehigh Canal/Towpath to the sewage treatment plant near Jim Thorpe, and then if you want, it is a short trip along side the RR tracks into a food market parking lot in Jim Thorpe. It is an out & back with the return trip even faster with a better flow to it. It will be approx 10 miles and an hour plus round trip. If possible, getting a tour from some one familiar should make the trip a whole lot more challenging and enjoyable. You will come back.

Recommended Route:
The trail entry is behind the job johnny at far left of parking lot. The start is nice hard pack single track with a challenging raised ladder in the 1st 30 seconds, followed by fast flowing up and downs, a few more ladder bridges and many tree roots thrown in. Then there are various short sections you must travel on the actual stone/dirt towpath that will be connecting excellent singletrack off to the left side. Trails are mostly marked by pink (or blue) banner tape or pink painted dots. Eventually (approx 3 mi ?)you will pass a pedestrian bridge with a very high large wooden overlook on the right. The single track then heads into the woods on the right side. There will be various short trails that veer off further to the right but you can stay straight. Soon you will go under a huge steel railroad bridge that jumps ya out on the towpath briefly then back down into the woods on singletrack off to the right. This will run you to the sewage plant witha nice long rock garden around the plant to the RR tracks. I usually turn around after a brief break and then head back to Weissport in the reverse direction. This can be one fast trek with alot of flow and cool trails.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Tamaqua Bungalow
Summit Hill Ridge Loop
Broad Mt. American Standard

Summary:
FOLKS! There are NEW singletrack trails here! Northshore bridges, teetertotters!!! Definitely warrants multiple visits. The park is run by mountain bikers. We love freeriding... and we'd love some jumps! Hint, hint ; )

Recommended Route:
Park in Lehigh Canal parking lot in Weissport. Ride up the towpath towards Jim Thorpe. Take anything that breaks off to the left. There is also a new loop to the right past "Lock 7", where there is a gate and a road off to the right side, about a mile up the towpath. Sick downhills and climbs!!
