Summary:
I'm sorry to say but we found these trails to be a bit boring and hard to follow. There were 2-3 good sections but then another trail would breal off from the one you are riding and then there is another 3 wayfork. It's very tough to get into a rythem on these trails. I spoke to a local and he informed me that he still gets lost there and that he has finally developed a loop that makes sense.
These trails are intermediate at best.

Summary:
This place has great trails. Had the day off so figured I'd go check it out based on the reviews I had read. True to the reviews there is lots of really fast single track. Tons of fun. many props to whomever built/maintains these trails. Not the largest trail system I've rode but for being within minutes of a large city it is tuff to beat. Like the last reviewer I didn't find the dirt rag house. I did however come across a collapsed shed....sans hobos...dang

Summary:
Tons of true singletrack, I probably rode about 25 miles and only retaced things by choice. There is a spectacular dragons tail switchback across from the mansion parking lot. I think i rode it about four times in the course of a four hour tour. Navigation is pretty easy due to landmarks and great trailblazes. It looks like there used to be some creative stunts and skinnies but they are in a state of disrepair. This could be due to park rules, i dont know im not a local. Either way the natural terrain and great trail layout make themost of your ride and the property. Where are the carpenters and the diggers? #$%@ i missed the dirt rag house and the bikes, i need a guide for next time.

Recommended Route:
From Erie, 79 south, wexford exit RT. 910 east, RTE 8 South, Harts Run Road East, follow signs to concert area.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Morraine State Park, Kenerdell Tract(clear creek state park).

Summary:
Best trails in Pittsburgh only a mile from my house! Not many rocks, lots of logs, technical turns, lots of bends in tight trees. Beautiful landscape, well kept, traffic is minimul, horses are a PITA, but hikers are cool. Well maintained by the rag people, help on occasion, love it!

Recommended Route:
Too many, best thing is the variety, must do the rollercoaster and the snake.

I disagree with this author's claim of "not many rocks". The cool thing about Hartwood Acres is that it is so varied; certain trails are extremely rocky, while others have lots of logs, while still more are smooth and flowy. Hartwood Acres is truly an amazing place to ride!
