Summary:
AWESOME! BRUTAL! GRUELING! AWESOME! I have ridden this race 4 times and the Ironmasters 3 times. The "Curse" is the fact that they advertised 12 miles and it was almost 17 back in 1997 when I rode it the first time as a beginner. The last time I rode it in 2000 they had cut out the more difficult big boulder sections. It was down to 14 miles. Still more than most beginner races. I plan on being back there this year on my trusty "Vintage" 1996 StumpJumper. Lots of new parts, but still the same bike I raced back in 1997. I have ridden it on 2 bikes. My 1996 Stumpy A1 and a GT STS Carbon set at 4 3/4" with a Judy XL if you remember those. The full suspension was ok but not really much help on this course. 50% fire road and smoth trail/ 50% rocks and trails so tight your handlebars are banging trees on both sides. When you finish the race the beer truck awaits(hoping that's still the case). Don't miss it, unless your a wimp. Don't try it if you can't ride rocks.

Recommended Route:
Use GPS or stick with the race route. Easy to get lost.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There used to be two other races in a series with the curse. Not sure if they are still going.

Summary:
I'd say Michaux offers some of the most challenging and fun riding on the east coast. I'd recomend it to anyone. The race course is most of all extremely fun and challenging. That's all I have to say. I need to go get on my bike.

Summary:
Lots of sweet TECHNICAL singletrack. Don't ride here if your looking for a quick 6-7 mile ride on buff trails. Apparently the girls from Jersey came to Michaux and got there asses kicked. I recomend that they work on their technical skills and give it another try instead of making a bunch of lame jokes over and over. Then again, maybe they should try road riding.

Recommended Route:
start at the Big Flat parking area and find the red trail.....i think.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Try the race that's held here in July.

Summary:
As a note to reader, I travel these trails on a daily basis (work permitting). The entire area is hazardous to one's health. Everything from being shot at to having beer bottles thrown at me has happen at least once in Michaux St. Forest. The riding is good if you are comfortable taking those risks. Frankly, the Pa turnpike is a safer ride. As for me, I'll stick with riding the Fredrick watershed area and Green Ridge St. Forest (MD).

Recommended Route:
Any trail in Southern Michaux

Summary:
This is one of the few epic races in the east coast. All the trails are great. If you up to the challenge, bring it on! Once when I was riding I saw some really fast guy on a black homegrown with a fender. He was really cool.

Recommended Route:
The race course is great. I love very hard and long rides. You will definitely get your money's worth if you choose to compete in the Curse of Dark Hollow. If your a pussy or complain a lot go do a road race.
