Core Creek
1 reviews
 4 of 5

Core Creek trails are at Core Creek park. There are about 8-1/2 total miles of trails. Most of the terrain is flat, with an occasional short climb. There are many stream crossings that have bridges, there are many log roll-overs, there are a few whoop-di-doos. It is a nice trail for beginner riders and is kept in decent shape. There are a few trail heads to start at, one is at the ball fields where Woodbourne road is, go to the pavillion and head towards the woods, you''ll find it. You can also start at the woods next to Maple Point Middle School-the trail crosses over woodbourne Rd and into Core Creek Park. There is another trail head that starts near where the dam is for the lake. You would acces that from Bridgetown pike Rd, go into the park and make a right into the first parking area past the ranger station. The trail head is at the end of the parking lot.

Summary:
I'm no off road aficionado but I think these trails are great. I live in Newtown and have been looking for some off road trails that I don't need to pack the bike in the car to get to and these are the only ones around that I have found. These are great for a short after work or weekend ride when I only have a hour or 2. I would not call these "a ride in the park". There are some technical sections that require some finese. They are fairly well maintained although some of the less used trails get overgrown. My rating of 4 is partly based on proximity to me.

Recommended Route:
Since I ride from my house, I jump onto the trail directly off Woodbourne Road just south of the resevoir. It is pretty much just one big loop with some cross over trails and some off shoots. There are no trail markers. I'd like to find a map if one exists.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Penny Pack park in North Philly has a great trail system. I hear there are some decent trails over by Neshaminy High School but have not tried them. Same with Mercer County Park in NJ.
