Three Mile Trail
15 reviews

Three miles of serpentine single track, very rocky, including some hairy descents, eventually wears you down so you will not clear it. Noone has yet although they have come close.

Summary:
This trail is one of my all time favorites. Its got everything, twisty, bermed corners, big rocks, little rocks, doubles (if you know how to improvise) and it goes mostly downhill. If you ride this and are not absolutly thrilled, you might be a roadie.

Recommended Route:
Climb dead womans hollow or the ridge road to the top. Take three mile trail followed by rattlesnake ridge.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lots of trails all over this mountain, you just have to hook up with a local who knows where to go, or do the spring Michaux race (expert loop)and learn some of them.

Recommended Route:
SORRY BUT I HAVEN'T RIDDEN IT BUT I HOPE TO SOON IT SOUNDS LIKE A REAL CHALLENGE FOR SOMEONE ONLY 13!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
GO TO SHIPPENSBURG ROAD (SOUTH) THEN TURN LEFT ON THE FIRST HARD ROAD (LOOP ROAD)(NOT DIRT) THEN MAKE THE FIRST LEFT ON THAT ROAD. THERE IS A ROAD THAT GOES STRAIT UP THE MOUNTAIN. PARK AT THE COLDESAC AND RIDE UP THE LONG DRIVEWAY LOOKING ROAD. TURN RIGHT ON THE TRAIL AND HAVE FUN (OH AND WHEN YOU GET TO THE POWER LINES TURN RIGHT AND THE TRAIL IS THERE AGAIN) OH AND TURN LEFT TO GET BACK TO YOUR CAR (THIS IS AN ALL AROUND RIDER KIND OF TRAIL)

Yo, this is Big Poppa from NYC. Just want to send a big shout out to my peeps. Word!!! The word on Three Mile Trail is, SUCKAMONDO! Man, that trail is so rough it jacked up my pimp hand. Yall know I like to keep a strong pimp hand. Keep it real in da hood yo! Peace out.

Recommended Route:
None. Michaux is a very brutal place to ride. Its not user friendly. No maps, no trail, no fun.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
I'll stick to central park yo. It's fun dodging hookers and hobos. Down with da the H. Zabbadabbalicious!!!

Summary:
Michaux offers some nice singletrack riding... some of it can get pretty technical, three mile trail is a pretty decent one.. no big drops or highly technical riding

Other recommended trails in the same area:
the gettysburg bike shop has a nice course for their race... its a nice 25 miles with little road usage and a lot of twisty turny singletrack.. it can get pretty technical in spots

Summary:
Being an extreme mountain biker, I was somewhat disappointed with Three Mile Trail. I thought it would live up to the high reviews on this web site, but it doesn't. I found the trail to be somewhat technical but not extremely challenging. It only took me 20 minutes to ride the trail from start to finish. I guess it's better than riding a road bike.

Recommended Route:
Michaux has a few good trails. The Michaux State Forest ATV Trail map shows all the trails worth riding in the forest.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
If you want to ride some awesome trails go the Lamb's Gap or Stony Creek near Harrisburg. It's awesome. It has big drops and some really gnarly singletrack.
