Seven Springs

long climb in the begining and then goes into fun single track down the back side of the mt. And the a long climb back up and from there on out awsome single track, and lots of rocks. There are usually arrows to guide you which direction to go.
off exit 9 on PA turnpike, turn left and follow route 31 and then follow signs to Seven Springs Mt. resort. once you enter the resort, at the y in the road take the left and park at the bottom of the parking lot near the chair lift.
There is no longer the Red, Blue and Green loop. All singletrack is now marked in red blaze and the trail sections are named to allow you to create your own loop. Many new trails have been added recently. You can park at the top of the 6 Pack, BLitzen lift, North Face lift or the snowmobile lot behind Lake Tahoe near the top of Giant Steps lift. Pick up the trails and do multiple different loops on the front side for 5-7 miles and still dropp down the back side to do the 6 miles of the race course loop. Lots of new technical terrain has been added everywhere. Just look for the trails that shoot off the main trail (but still run parallel to them) and play on giant rocks and drops for a change of pace from fast, less than technical singletrack. Trail maps available at the Adventure Center (the Snowtubing area in the winter for those who don't know).
Recommended Route: Piros Path for fast, twisty single track.
State Line Trail for a nice rocky, rooted downhill with technical play areas strewn all over it's edges. One section drops down about a 5' rock and wanders through 5 to 6 more large rocks with log bridges connecting them.
Fernmoss trail has some neat rocks to ride on. Look for the huge 2 stepper that parallels on the left side.
Gulley Trail has some fun roller coaster sections through dry creek beds.
Spine Rock Trail named for the large 8-10' long rock that has a rideable "spine" across the top of it along with various other rock features on this trail.
The Rock Garden is the old rock garden section most are familiar with.
Two Lakes Trail has some real nice, flowing, twisty downhill sections and more rocks to play on. Then there is still Corkscrew, Northwestern, THe Race Loop, Distillery Bypass and for those that know, the un-named single track that goes to the airport and Top of the World along with the Jim Fry Downhill.
Look for more trails and more technical play areas to be built!
Other recommended trails in the same area: Roaring Run on the other side of County Line Road. Birch Rock is a bear to get up to, but has some really cool technical play areas on top.

Summary: I highly recomend the trails at Seven Springs. The trails are technical, fast and fun. Avoid getting lost by following the race course trail, which is fairly well marked and forms a three mile loop on the frontside of the mountain and a much larger loop down the backside of the mountain. Park at the top of the mountain near the Lake Tahoe Lodge to avoid the initial climb and to save your enegry for the trails. Check out the trail map: http://www.7springs.com/images/summer/bike_map.jpg
The trails on the race course consist of primarily singletrack with a few miles fireroads and some quad trails.
The most challenging aspects of these trails are the leg-burning steep sections and the technical rock gardens. Nothing too difficult that the average intermediate rider can't handle. Ride these trails at race-pace and find yourself in the air nearly as much as on the ground. There are opportunities to catch air everywhere. Because of this, the downhills are super-fun.
Another key characteristic about Seven Springs is that after your ride you can grab some lunch and a beer with your crew at the ski lodge. That's a nice amenity not offered at most trail heads.
Recommended Route: Check out the race course first. The majority of other trails can be accessed from the fireroads near the mountain top.

Ohiopyle
Roaring Run

Summary: Great place to ride. There are 3 main trails (red for "advanced", blue for "intermediate" and green for "beginners"), but there are loads of other trails if you are in the mood to explore. The Red tail is my favorite, after doing a big loop around the top of the mountain, the trail then drops down the back side of the resort and then up again. The trail markers stop where they started,so if you did not get enough you can do another lap. Lots of rock gardens on the trails (don't panic, dodge the biggest rocks, and keep your momentum). A lot of good climbing too, but really the best climbs are right up the front of the ski slopes from the lodge area. Beautiful scenery, great trails, follow the markers and you will not get lost.

Summary: Super sweet singletrack. Rocks, rocks and more big rocks. There is a good reason that NORBA has a national event here. For a good ride, find the XC trail arrows on the race track and GO! Pack some power food, you will need it.
Recommended Route: Park in the upper lot, or drive up to the top of the ski lifts, or park at the condos. (Leave riding up the slope for race day.)
Other recommended trails in the same area: Hidden Valley Resort, PW&S Railroad at the Laural Summit, Forbes State forest.
