, from New Paris, PA Summary: The Lower Trail, the name of this rails to trails ride, is but one of the fine rails/trails in the state of PA. There are many points of interest along the length of the trail. On one of your rides on this trail, take time to read about some of the interesting facts about this ride, that was once part of the Pennsylvania Canal and then the Pennsyvania Railroad. The best part of any of the Rails to Trails is the pristine beauty encountered along the way. Recommended Route: Start at the Alfarata end point. That way the first eleven miles is slightly uphill, which in turn means that the return trip is slightly downhill. Other recommended trails in the same area: Ghost Town Trail, Dilltown, PA to Nanty Glo, PA in Indiana and Cambria Counties; The Allegheny Highlands Trail, Markleton, PA to Meyersdale, PA in Somerset County.
