Ridden Trail:
Once a week

Summary:
This page needs an update to give this park the justice it deserves. There is so much to this area not mentioned. Techical downs and ups, twisty singletrack, fast flats, logs of fun log hops, etc. The East and West sides of the park are now connected by a wicked fun side hill singletrack that runs from behind the horse farm all along the lake shore line out to the dam. No more reason to ride the boring 2 lane emaergency vehicle access, unless you are returning from a night ride and the batteries are running low. I ride this park at least three times a week (it's in my backyard) and it still provides plenty of thrills.

Recommended Route:
Start out @ the Boat Launch Parking Lot and head East. A trail starts at the end of that lot. Follow along the lake all the way around and out to the dam, about 2 miles. This is a brand new trail in '08 and it is one of the best in the park. Once you get to the dam, cross over the top of it and turn right at the end. There is a twisty singletrack, the Sole Trail, that runs all the way down the hill that culminates in a technical bridge crossing and two back to back log hops. Turn left and go up the hill. Stay on this trail and follow till it splits. Either way, left or right, results in a big loop, about 3 miles around. When you get back to the Boat Launch, if you're not done, head west along the shoreline. Take a sharp left about 300 yds in. This will lead to a fun singletrack uphill, pretty mild. Get to the top, head out across the horsefields and explore. Lots of interesting stuff out that way, and the terrain almost prevents you from getting lost. At the bottom of the biggest hills is a flat old train line running along a creek. Back up the hill, which can be a ball buster depending on the route you pick, and you're back in the main part of the park.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Sonoco, just opened West of D'Town. French Creek, Blue Marsh, Brandywine St. Park, Fair Hill, MD.

Summary:
Many trails for different skill levels. Access roads for the dam, single track trails through the woods (dam side of the lake), and wide rooty trails near the west boat launch make for a great variety. Here's a link to a map from the state.
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/maps/marshcreek_mini.pdf Watch out for the trail that goes along the brandywine creek in the western part of the park (and out of the park too). Lots of RR ties still there and you can keep going on this path until the trail closes in on you with pricker bushes galore! (wear long sleeves if going this route).

Recommended Route:
Start at the Struble trail in Downingtown for a 2.6 mile warm up (flat and paved), go right at end of the trail and enter the park 1/2 way up the hill on road. Take left into the park at gate. Ride down the hill, then up the dam, through the fields (enter at the woods near the dam on a single track but you can also take the road through the fields too). Take these trails past the horse barn and the boat launches for even more trails.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
French Creek, Brandywine State Park (DE)

Summary:
I rode this for the first time today b/c it is so close to where I live now. well maintained trails that varied from single track to fire roads to field crossings. Some of the downhills were a bit choppy because of washout, exposing many roots and loose gravel making accents that much more of a challange. A few technical log crossings that some people were kind enough to build up over a fallen tree.
Great potential, but routes need to be better marked.
Fine for beginners and intermediates.

Recommended Route:
Start at the trail head behind the bathrooms of the boat mooring parking lot. Hit the blue counter clockwise and work your way onto the other trails.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Avalon, Loch Raven and Gambril in MD

Summary:
The trails to the left of the boat docks are pretty good. You get a broad range of trails from smooth wide trails to extreme downhills to single track over tons of rocks. You also go out into some fields of tall grass. The only thing is you have to watch for hikers with their dogs and horseback riders(and the stuff they leave behind). I found it hard to fly down the hills and around bends when you never know who or what is around the next corner. Also, pay attention to the trails you are on. They are marked in colors (blue, yellow, etc) I saw some entances to other unmarked trails all over the place but I didn't get a chance to try them out since I wasn't quite sure if I would get lost. I plan on trying some next week along with the trail to the right of the dock that heads out to the dam.

Recommended Route:
Park at the boat launches on the West Side of the Lake

Other recommended trails in the same area:
WCU South Campus, French Creek

Summary:
Marsh Creek is really convienent for me and some of my friends who an just ride there but it'd still be a great place to bike regardless of where you live. There are two sides with a lot of trails which differ a lot. There are some really kick ass downhills (like green yellow or blue trails) but after you go down them you have to climb back up the hill which can sometimes be a pain after riding a long time. Some problems are that the trails have a lot of walkers with dogs on them at times and horses too. There is a lot of crap on the trails sometimes and trees fall down and can ruin trails. Me and my friends have to usually clean some of them up. Great place to bike, check it out if you are around.

Recommended Route:
Start at the docks and go up the big hill to the right of it. After that drive through the rocky driveway and a stable (the people there don't mind) and take the trail up. Ride the trail for a couple miles, ride across the dame and take a right. You can just ride about 20 trails around this side of the park. After that just backtrack and go left of the docks to the other trails which are quite different from the other ones. Ride up some big hills and take one of many different downhills. Basically done after that unless you wanna climp up a huge ass hill.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
French Creek is about 20 minutes away.
