IT IS A STATE FOREST PARKING LOT,SO KEEP IT CLEAN
Recommended Route: Do not take the Yahoo trail or anyhting up river from where the ridge trail drops down unles you like to hike-a-bike. The map indicates that there is a trail along the river to return to Kennerdale, there is no trail. It is about 2 miles of brush busting over rocks.

Summary: This trail system rocks! It is close enough to Pittsburgh for a day trip yet you feel like you are in the wilderness the entire ride. There are rocky technical sections and great log roll-overs with some fast sections and bomber downhills thrown in too. This is also a great XC ski area. There were about 10 horse trailers in the parking lot on a Sunday morning in July but we did not see one horse out on the trail.
Recommended Route: I did Ridge Trail down to the river and back up the Bumble trail. This keeps you on single track for quite a bit of the ride. The hill climb is not that bad for how savage the downhill is. I also rode the "no horses" trails up to and down from the overlook in the natural area and they were not that great. They were steep with loose stones and not much fun. The ride up Dennison Run Trail is nice if you are willing to get a little wet or go huge off the bridges.

Summary: Don't worry about the bulldozed singletrack. Yeah, it sucks, but the road connects you to the rest of it, and the entire ride is absolutely the best near Pittsburgh.
Recommended Route: Follow the loop that our map recommends. It's a blast start to finish.

Ridden Trail: Once a month

Summary: So many good things to say about this ride, flows like water, but still has the technicality to keep you on your toes. All kinds of different ways to ride this and dozens of miles of trails to choose from, varying from fire roads to rutted quad trails to some of the sweetest single track this part of the country has to offer. Just plain great...except for one BIG but... it seems as though DCNR and the game commission do pretty much as they please with this area with little to no concern for the trail user. Case in point is the bulldozing of the single track between the gravel road from the parking lot to the Window...and in the fencing off fo the woods next to it, apparently in anticipation of clear cutting. Coupled with the games commission push to redefine use policy it kind of sticks in the craw. If you think this sounds harsh go and ride the afore-mentioned section, I think you'll see where I'm coming from. Ohterwise this is probably my favorite ride, and definetly worth a rode trip.
Recommended Route: Now that the killer single track entry from the parking lot has been bulldozed, you might want to head left off the gravel track for a single track warm up, then cut back in to the Window.

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Summary: Whenever I heard anything about this trail system, it was always mentioned with 2-Mile Run State Park. So I assumed they were close to each other, or actually in the same State Park. As it turns out, 2-Mile Run is close to Kennerdell, about a 20 minute drive? So I am comparing these trails to each other. Kennderdell is way better than 2-Mile. The trails are pretty fast, but there are a ton of obstacles to get over. Rocks, Rocks, Rocks, logs, logs, logs, and a few bridges. There are a few very steep downhills, which in turn make for killer uphills. A few of us broke off from the main ride and decided to do one of the rocky and technical downhills, but the climb was so gruelling in length and technical because of the loose rocks, that when asked to do another downhill at the end of the ride we all declined. Another big, big reason both of these trails kicked assed were becuase of the house sized rocks that you could ride over or off of. My big travel bike finally found a trail system that it was made for (Giant AC Air). Every time the group took a break I was off into the woods looking for some rocks to ride over or launch of. Kennerdell was great, but if in th earea also check out 2-Mile run. I will be back to sample the trails again!!
Recommended Route: I was in a big group of locals and Clevelanders who knew where they were going. I would recommend that if you have never ridden there, either go with a trail guide or get a map. There are signs and trailnames, but I never paid attention to them.
