Downhiller Summary: I love this site and buy and many bikes for my japines friends here in Japan. I am from nanty-Glo and have ridden the Goast town trail from the time it was built. i was planing a trip to visit my parents in oct and was going to bring my bike along and check out some of the trail in the review. My question to all out their is how can you clasify this trail as extream or even single track when it is 100% flat and over ten feet wide of packed pea gravel. Did someone make drastic changes to this trail since 1996 or is their another trail Im not awear of. I want to check out several trail in the area and dont wish to waste my time with bogas reviews. all please reply

Cross Country Rider Summary: Ahh, good ole Ghosttown. Flat, yes , however those of you who have eyes and can use them should ride along a little slower next time. Look for quad tracks and old spurs of railbed that come onto the main trail. Avoid posted signs and you may find a nice trail into the woods. Another place is to follow the trail from where the parking lot is at Eliza Furnace to the end at its junction with 422. Continue along under the overpass beside the creek. On the other side you'll find plenty more railbed and quad trails. Good stuff, technical climbs and rolling banked turns. Miles of stuff. Recommended Route: Entire length is connected to Quad trails, powerlines, gaslines. ect. Good Cross country stuff. Other recommended trails in the same area: There is an ATV club out in that area. There trails a race oriented but are ultra fun on a Mountain bike. Dry days only.

, from Knoxville, TN Summary: I love this 12 mile trail on a wide, packed-gravel trail with a maximum grade of about 2 degrees. It is a converted railway once used for coal & iron ore mining. It is pretty much an uphill climb from Vintondale to Nanty Glo so your best bet is to travel the length of the trail starting at Dilltown. This makes for an easier return trip. I wouldn't consider this a true mountainbike trail. It's more of a pleasurable bike ride crossing streams by means of bridges. I can't think of any place on the trail where you actually have to ride through water. There is plenty of wildlife to see. I have watched an otter swimming in a stream while I was crossing one of the bridges, a deer standing in the middle of the trail, canada geese swimming, and bright red summer tanagers flying through the woods. The wild roses smell heavenly when in bloom and the rhodedendron is also beautiful. Recommended Route: Dilltown to Nanty-Glo, 12 mile trip.
