Ridden Trail: Once a week

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is a great trail to ride if you don't have the time to leave town. Starting at Lynch Field, where there is a decent amount of parking unless soccer/special events crowds you out, you have a mild uphill climb to the tunnel under the railroad tracks. The trail runs through the middle of Greensburg, and stretches all the way to Youngwood, around 5 1/4 miles, before you come to the railroad museum and parking area. From here, you can continue straight to the dead end at mile 6, or you could turn left after crossing the street, go over the bridge, and turn right to continue towards Westmoreland Community College. The trail goes through the campus, dead-ends at a guard rail around mile 7.62 (from Lynch) near Armbrust, at the edge of a small creek which appears to have once been crossed by a railroad bridge from the pilings. If riding with children, use caution at the busier street crossings at Huff Avenue and Trolley Line near Youngwood, at the crossing by the railroad museum in Youngwood. May not most scenic trail in the world, but worth checking out in my opinion. I ride the entire length here at least twice a week, and often come with my whole family for shorter rides at the Youngwood-Armbrust end of the trail.

, from Johnstown, Pa Summary: The Five Star Trail looks like someome put a trail together that didn't have the money to put a first class trail in place. I found it to have many washed out areas for such a new trail. I also found it to have many people walking dogs on it with no leases on them and didn't care to call them away from you. I almost got bite twice. No I see they are planning to extend what they have when they can't keep what they already have in good riding condition. If they can't keep up what they already have in place they shouldn't be extending what they have untill they can. I won't watse my time traveling again to this trail as it's just not worth the trip to ride on it.
