Cross Country Rider Summary: I am visiting PGH and loved this trail. It's fast with good hard pack and a minimal amount of roots and rocks. Nice hills to go up and come down. There are many trail intersections and all sorts of loop combinations that can be ridden. Other recommended trails in the same area: Frick Park, Bavington, Hartwood acres

Cross Country Rider Summary: The trails of Boyce Park rank comfortably in the top five best singletrack destinations in the Pittsburgh area. Pearson Road divides Boyce into two main sections; the ski area and the soccer field sections. Park near the soccer fields at the northern end of park map.
http://www.monroevillesoccer.org/directions/BoyceParkSoccerFields.html
Check out the few miles of singletrack between the soccer fields and the ski area on the west side of Pearson Road. One trail loops around the top of the ski area but most trails are between the model airplane field and the soccer field. Don't spend too much time in this area because these trails stink in comparison to the ones on the other side of Pearson Road.
Choose from a few trailheads all starting from the dirt road within a couple hundred yards of the entrance to the soccer field parking lot. Beside the archery range there is a fireroad that forms a three mile loop off of which much of Boyce's singletrack can be found. The fireroad is mostly flat, but the many miles of fast hardpack trails are a rollercoaster of short climbs and steep bank stream crossings. The trails are considerably more technical under wet conditions, but usually can easily be ridden by any intermediate rider. Recommended Route: Start at the archery range, follow the trail which hugs Pearson Road down to the log cabin. Follow fireroad behind cabin to second trail on right. Lots to explore in this area. Cross over fireroad and find a trail that follows the edge of the woods behind the tennis courts. This will eventually end on the dirt road that leads to the soccer field. Follow dirt road to trailhead on left located under the powerlines at the top of the hill. This would be my favorite trail in the park. This super-fast trail loops around from the power lines to the archery range which is next to the soccer field parking lot. This trail will keep you coming back. Other recommended trails in the same area: Frick Park
Dear Lakes Park
Hartwood Acres
Bavington

Cross Country Rider Summary: I have been riding this park for years and still having fun. I ride these trails at least 2 times during the week in the evening and on the weekends when I cant get away. It will take new riders a couple of rides before you find all of the trails because they are everywhere. Most of the trails are in good shape but a couple of them are wearing out because of the heavy rain this year. Overall this is a great place to ride. Recommended Route: Park near soccer fields, ride up paved road, enter trails at right side of road, Have fun.

, from Greensburg Summary: I miss Boyce Park since I moved out of Shadyside, but it is still a great place to meet friends still in the 'burgh. Super single track with lots of fun twists and turns. Smaller logs and crossings than Hartwood or Laurel Mtn, but tons of fun and easy to pedal. Go with someone who knows it well, or face getting lost and missing some of the best trails. Recommended Route: Start at the Cabin parking lot. Go up paved/gravel path past barn on right, continue up dirt path a 100-200 yds, make right to lots of single track that will lead to more. Other recommended trails in the same area: Hartwood Acres and Laurel Mtn are unbeatable for experienced riders. Hartwood is smallish and concentrates a lot of technical riding. Laurel Mtn offers same level, just more spread out and everythings

, from plum, pa Summary: boyce is straight on in terms of smooth, swinging single track with lots of logs. the state environmental service currently has a big chunk of the park closed off in its attempts to extinguish mine fires underneath the park but most of the trails are still accessible. trail maintenance is excellent and in mid august this is the absolute best place in pittsburgh to ride but tends to get sloppy in the spring and early summer. Recommended Route: park at the log cabin, climb up the hill to the second right, explore! Other recommended trails in the same area: frick park, roaring run, seven springs, duff park.
