, from Wilmington, DE Summary: I went back to my Hometown of Johnstown, PA and went to go for a ride at Clearshade on the John P Saylor trail. Used to be a fun trail. Now all trails are closed to bikes. Don't go and waste your time unloading your bike. What a waste of nice State Park land to only allow hikers. Didn't see one hiker all day while we made our own way around the woods. F all you park people in Gallitzen. Might as well leave the land to the fags!! Recommended Route: No Route!!!! They have closed all trails to bikes

, from Blairsville Summary: The Clear Shade Nature is one of the most beautiful areas in WPA bar none, not real technical as far as single track, but scenic none the less. Trails criss cross with hiking trails and are not clearly marked as to which is which (except the John Saylor trail). If the state would be more accomodating to Mtn Bikers maybe we'd get a little respect here. None of these trails show the bicycle icon, but cross country ski trails are open for riding and they are throughout the upper trail system. The same for Lost Turkey trail I started to the trail head and it said it was only for snow mobiles, what's up with that, they don't ride without snow. Why can't we legally ride during the other months? I stayed off. Anyway, the Glade Run area with mountain streams are definitely with the trip. I've descended the mountain in different directions, and ended up at the picnic area eventually. Trail markings are not real good Recommended Route: Start at Babcock Picnic Area and climb to Clear Shade Nature Area and descend back to picnic area, PS the gays stay to themselves mostly.

, from JOHNSTOWN Summary: the five mile loop is a nice ride with a hillclimb, alot of singletrack and some technical stuff. the only bad part is the old railroad bed (about 1.5 miles), its bumpy but it is getting better with age. the twelve mile loop some has fun singletrack & technical stuff, no tough hill climbs. parts of both trails consist of old railroad beds. the Bog Trail is also fun, but stay away from the Wolf Rocks Portion. Recommended Route: Route 56 near Ogletown. east from Ogletown, about a mile past Ogletown is a State Park Parking Area on the left side. this is a good spot to start. get a State Park Map. Suggestion on the 12 mile loop - stay away from Wolf Rocks. Other recommended trails in the same area: Bog Trail
