Wahtum Lake O&B

The first part of the trail is just an access trail for an Aquaduct (AKA 'oak grove ditch'?) Some of the road crossings and very litle of the trail is marked, so get a good trail map guide. check out free map downloads at www.topo.com for this one. The trail is not for beginners, alot of steep climbing and rugged trail surface, but a sweet downhill ride back. The final trail section to wahtum lake is getting overgrown and may be difficult to follow (Tr. 406B). Bring your camera, the views along Waucoma ridge are better than the famous Surveyors ridge ride. Again a great downhill on the way back.

The first part of this trail is great for families - easy, nearly flat, and pretty. We rode from the lot near the reservoire, but that meant 20 min on gravel road before the trail, so could drive that road and start on the trail. The kids turned back when the trail turned uphill (maybe 45 min in?), but some went on for a nice climb including swoopy fun and rocky bits too.

My rating is for first part - the second part is more like intermediate in difficulty.
