sterling mine ditch trail

I usually start from the armstrong trailhead (flatter), although the scenery is probably better starting from the tunnel ridge/bear creek area.
to get to the armstrong trailhead, go up hwy 238 to ruch, then left on upper applegate rd a couple of miles to little applegate rd; left again at buncom onto sterling creek rd; then between mile markers 9 and 8 armstrong/ deming gulch rd, the sign is smallish and brown on the left hand side of the road. go over a huge speed bump then a fork in the road, stay right then on uphill 0.7 mile to the trail; there is a little parking right there or up/down the road in pullouts. the trail is quite narrow for the most part but flat and nontechnical along the ditch itself. the south/west end is hillier, because of access trails from little applegate rd and also bypasses around private property.

Trail mostly flat. Great trail for some one to learn to ride single track. I took my 11 year old dtr and she loved it.
