Summary:
Excellent area for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The 'Outback Loop' is a very good trail to take if its your first time, it loops around the majority of the area with good views of Grants Pass and surrounding areas. It takes me on average 50 minutes to hike the outback trail from Espy trail head all the way around and back to Espy walking at 3-4 mph. I plan on getting some friends together and mountain biking the area for fun and to get into better shape. From what I've seen about 75% of the trails are big enough for horses (high clearance). Much of the area has been thinned (fuels reduction) but is still very beautiful, they did a very good job cleaning the area up. Below is a link to the Cathedral Hills Trails with a map of the trail system.

Recommended Route:
From Grants Pass travel south for a couple miles on williams hwy. After the golf course, turn left onto Espy road. Stay left on Epsy .75 miles to the end.
The parking area is on the small side with room for a half dozen horse trailers and 8 or 9 compact vehicles. There is a rest room at the trail head.

Summary:
cathedral hills is full of various riding contitions and difficulties, there trails range anywhere from easy to somewhat hard, with the hardest trail bridges ( my favorite) containing some wooden stunts, such as a six foot drop, over a trail, or a teeter totter, which in my experience is NOT fun, considering i broke my collar bone trying the thing.....lol, good times.

Recommended Route:
we usually get to the trail by riding up sky crest, which kinda tales it out of you, but its worth it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
nothin much else, except some old trails up behind elk lane

Summary:
Super-fun trail--I have very fond memories of this place. Large area to explore and lots of different stuff to try. Some portions are very technical; other parts are easy. Some mammothly steep areas; others are flat. This is a fun place.

You can download a map at http://www.oregonwebsites.com/cathedralhills/maps.html

Recommended Route:
You can also start at the trailhead in the back: from Grandview Ave, drive up Sky Way to the stop sign at the top of the hill.
