Glade Trail (DH)
1 reviews
 5 of 5

I'm not sure if anybody reads these anymore, but it seems like the directions to do the full-on downhill are incomplete.

The program: Park the lower car at Road 39 on the north side of Hwy 26. Shuttle to Timberline. Ride down the Glade Trail, get slightly lost in the XC trails that come out of Glacier View Snowpark (segments of the Crosstown Trial). Basically, keeping right at all junctions will get you to the Pioneer Bridle trail. Once on that, stay on the main trail (there is one hard right that would take you on a loop back east.) Ride down, down thru the tunnel under the old highway. After a couple short climbs, it's all down back to Hwy 26/ Rd 39 and the lower car.

The review: Glade trail -fun, very fast, some pretty bony sections which are totally ridable but dodgy at high speed. The last part of the trail is pretty smooth. Hung a right onto some new trail that either became or tied into the Crosstown trail. Signage is a bit confusing but keeping right will get you where you need to go. These trails are flat to slightly downhill, fun, swoopy and very smooth. From Glacier View SP, hit Pioneer Bridle trail (aka Pioneer Crusher.) Very fast, mostly smooth with a few sandy and rocky sections and some short climbs after the tunnel, I think (about 290' total.) This section is the least technical of the downhill portions. Rode on my 6 and 6 - could have ridden my DH bike on the Glade Trail tho.

Technical rating of 4 is based on high-speed handling of the rock gardens on the Glade Trail.

Summary:
See above. Others descriptions of the Pioneer Bridle Trail and Crosstown Trail may be helpful. Don't try riding up the Glade Trail - you may get run down!
