Stub Stewart State Park

The real name of this park is LL Stub Stewart State Park and is located off the 26th in Oregon. If you start in Portland, drive West on the 26th and a few miles after it becomes a two lane, exit North an 47 and it is just a few miles off 26.
We did an overnight camp, but if you hit a day trip, park at the Hill Top parking / picnic area. I went up to the unsettable viewpoint trial and as of July, 2008 the trail was not finished. But, it looks like it will be an OK trail at the end of the summer as there is trail work scheduled.
This park is quite small. It is not really worth a day trip. All the dirt trails are about 4 feet wide and geared towards horses. Also, most have gravel rocks over the trial. It is just not a mount bike area.
But, it was fun for my 7 year old and I together.
The best trail I found was called Widow Maker and was about ½ mile long.
There is a bike trail that goes toward Vernonia, but I did not check it out.
Summary: a lot of trailsthat are dirt or gravel. east side of park is my favoritecause it mostly dirt, has lots of turns and steep.there are campgrounds and cabins where you can stay. its not the hardest network of trails but i find it quite entertaining with my friend.
Recommended Route: i would recommenD #6 on the map which is hares canyon trail. my favorite trail is #16, heartwood trail because it has pretty big jumps
Other recommended trails in the same area: Norms trails, but i havent been there yet but planning on going soon
